He'll get a lot of good press, but no, not shown enough for me yet. He's good at creating a side of workers who will battle for 90, but I've not seen the little bit extra you need yet. For us to go up this year, Whitts would need to create more than Taraabt did last year. Aint gonna happen.
:good I did wonder myself i watched a few games and your right seems to lack that other dimension to your game that teams need to go up.
I wonder how much of his kudos for Watford last year came down to Danny Graham having a belter of a season.
Good Shout mate because it's happened before. I dunno whether the club felt he could be there Brendan Rodgers (Watford Link, Good with young players). The thing that worried me about Mackay was when he said last year on a programme 'I have a team who do the tactics for me'. I found that a bit iffy because if i managed a team i'd like to be in charge of that type of thing.
:good Chees Grant, It does help a hell of a lot. I remember Billy Davies talking about scouting and recruitment networks. It's a must for any club nowadays!
I remember Boothroyd was like a reserve coach at Leeds when Blackwell was there. Ends up leaving to get the Watford job and took them up. He's a really good manager, but I think some of his choices have been a bit daft, taking a particular job when he might have been better practicising his golf swing. The academy manager at Leeds got the boot a few months ago, strange that two of his products are now part of our back four and we look like we've got a clue! Yet we've still got a reserve team manager.... why would you need one when there's no reserve team? Even if you have one surely the assistant and first team skipper should run the side?
Reserve football is absolute shite nowadays tbh. Each club has it's own take on each game so some games you will see really young team vs experienced then next game just youth teams playing then next game odd experienced first team player playing. Games are often **** and boring. Might as well just have a under 21's league. The bigger names don't want to play res football cos there to good for that or they think they are. I like Bothroyd got a few of his coaching documents and he has his own ideas and has worked his way up. I was at a meeting when i was Brentford coaching and the video analysis guy was at Watford with him and said he's good but when he losses a few games he doesn't really pick the ship up he seems to sulk a bit. Although when the guy said he rated Mckay better then him i did think he's talking out of backside. One guys achieved more then the other Mckay's not proven anything of note to be honest. Same meeting the head of youth said Brendan Rodgers is **** and a fake Jose Mourinho. Couple weeks later and Rodgers is at Wembley winning Playoff's so shows how much these jokers in pro game know about one another. I must admit i found him taking the Colchester and Coventry jobs rather bizarre because at the time he was still well thought of.
Yeah, might as well scrap it really, because the loan system has removed the need for it. Plus, players in the top half of the Premiership are happy just to pick up their wages and just train, whereas 10 or more years ago they wanted a game every week, even if it was a wet Wednesday night at some shitty ground that's dropping to bits. In terms of coaches I guess it's a matter of what his players respond to. There's certain types of player that I'd call ''Allardyce'' players, or ''Keegan'' players. Allardyce players tend to be ****s, first and foremost, aren't worried about kicking people or playing football the right way. Keegan players are generally skilled, attacking type players. A commanding centre back that can organise the defence, in the Tony Adams mould would be useless with Kev the Quitter.
Lynes will grind Purdy down, think you are all writing Lynes off but what I hear since the change to Team Tibbs he is fit and stronger and I fill Purdy is moving up into Class. Was robbed at the last prizefighter and has been on the wrong end of some terrible decisions? I see Lynes gettying the verdict over 12 hard rounds
Tbf Craig Watson is a very decent operator like Lynes and i think Purdy's shown he's a very good champion. It won't be easy but i fancy Purdy to win this.
