Many world champs were brought into the gym by their parents because their kids got into fights in school and on the streets.

Though Sonny was a street thug, he did develop nice skills.

Hagler and Liston both developed great skills.

    Marvin Hagler?

WTF? He outboxed most of his opponents.

Liston had solid boxing ability too.

Fritzie Zivic. He brought the streets to the ring. But all dirty fighting aside, he developed subtle boxing skills and possessed terrific infighting ability.

Fritzie Zivic would press your head down with his left hand and uppercut you with his right hand. Not Marquis of Queensbury, but very effective.
I saw him once in MSG, beating a young Philly sensation, Billy Arnold. Zivic was a wily, tough old buzzard that night...

Fritzie Zivic was very clever. I think he was better fighting from the outside than he was inside.

Rico Mayorga, Bazooka Limon, Jorge Vaca, 70s Foreman, Mike Weaver, Jose L. Ramirez, Bones Smith, Jake LaMotta,

None of the abover were stylistic, yet effective...

    The list goes on, too..
