Kessler would have made much more if he had faced Bute. The refusal was not a business decision but a boxing decision. Interbox even made a higher offer to Kessler when Pavlik decided not to face Bute. If the plan is to make Bute-Kessler after, I don't have a problem with that. I suspect though that Sauerland just found how to attract Ward for a rematch: to offer a belt. In his eyes, the WBO one was easier to take than the IBF one.
Kessler is one of my favorite fighters. I hope he wins it easily and that we see some great fights in the next year at SMW. Ward/Froch/Bute/Kessler any combination of those will be good. Froch is an exciting multidimension fighter. I really underestimated him early on and he's surprised me. I think he might be the best SMW out there. Bute - any of those three have good chances of beating him. Ward - Good technical fighter, but dirty. Not sure how he will do against Froch but could see him derailing Bute. A second fight with a wiser Kessler would probably go differently. Kessler, I'd pick over Bute. Would give a 40% in a rematch with Ward and 50/50 with Froch.
boo hoo. Sauerland obviously has a plan for Kessler. They might be politicing assholes, but they get the fights they want done.
I'm certain that we will see a Froch - Kessler II in Nottingham at some point, Froch really want that rematch
A second offer from Interbox? I havent heard that. That must mean that we can now conclude that Sauerland DID in fact make a counteroffer. How much was I-box second offer?
I wouldn't call him a no talent. 40 wins and 2 defeats... but still... Stieglitz earning $ 3 mill........
I heard it was $4.75 mill. 1) 750k from Interbox (as before) 2) The Danish TV rights (as before). So if Kessler is popular and can make a good deal.. he may get $2 mill! He can keep whatever money he can make there...... 3. Kessler's yacht in Monaco (newly added to the deal!). If Kessler can sell this for $2 mill then he can keep whatever money he makes here!... All in all.... a new offer of $4.75 mill !!!!! .................. Small writing.... PS. If Kessler is not able to sell the TV rights for more than $50 (because Sauerland already has a free to air German TV deal) and his boat for more than $50 then the offer will only be $750.100, but then we may consider throwing Kessler's Copenhagen apartment into the the deal!!!
Jean Bédard said yesterday he made a new offer to Sauerland. That was refused. He didn't give the numbers. Sauerland DID NOT make a counter offer. Come on Bat, all Sauerland actions point toward that.
I think you are right that they want Ward. But since Kessler is Emeritus would he really need the WBO belt for making that fight?
