Is dana white paying these guys? what a ****ing joke for such a big night of fights 40k? What's that after taxes, gym fees, corner cut, manager cut, food, sparring, hotel? $150?
Damn look at Canelo. 2 Million bucks for an easy night. After taxes, cuts and **** he will walk home with about a million dollars. **** my life!
I figured by Lopez stepping up to save the main event, plus after knocking off Oritz he would've been compensated a little more. $212,500 seems a little low for climbing two weight classes to fight a beast. I guess that's probably the best payday Josesito has ever gotten, so can't really complain. Still it's kinda crazy Maidana is getting $250,000, and Josesito who beat a more experienced better version of Victor is getting less.
I really hope Lopez wins. I would love to see him get a decent payday. 212,500 for fighting someone 2 weight classes above him who is supposed to win just does not seem fair for such a hard working guy.
If I were a manager and seen some of those numbers I would be questioning myself. No way would I be getting 10% of the purse unless is was against Floyd or Manny. A minimum of 25%
What really blows my mind is that all of Maidana's shine originated with him making Ortiz quit. That literally blew open the door for him to receive the kind of paydays he has since, and the hype along with it. Maybe the prize for Maidana was more lucrative because Ortiz wasn't considered "damaged goods" at the time (or because he was 'undefeated' except for a DQ)? :conf
Has to do with draw power. The promoters use a formula (for the main event fighters) to figure out what they will be getting. I agree though, Maidana is not the main event and should not be getting more than Josesito. That is wrong.
Maidana had no drawing power before his upset over Ortiz. None. Zero. He was unknown. (moreso than Lopez, who'd at least been on American TV a handful of times). Then all of a sudden he scores that miracle TKO and it's his meal ticket - whereas Josesito achieving the same feat (more impressively, since he shattered Ortiz's bones whereas Maidana simply made him want to pick up his ball and go home) gets him this relatively minuscule bump in payday in a main event of a big card against a rising star.
So if your career high was 100K and your percentage of the purse was 14% but totaled 500K, you wouldn't take the fight? Especially when your opponent is much more known than you are and is the A side of the main event. Look, I agree that Josesito should be getting more than Marcos. But by no means is Josesito getting ripped off in terms of his split. Still a career high payday for him. He could have turned it down to go make less money elsewhere too. A side is Canelo. Your reasoning is all ****ed up.
Irrelevant. It has to do with the ratings and numbers produced. Winning or losing is a very small part of it.
No i do not have an agenda. If you know numbers you sure don't show it in your posts. Did you know they use a formula to figure out splits? Did you know they use past money made for single fights, revenue produced, and if PPV, PPV buys. Revenue is the main item they look at however.:deal You have the agenda.
What Lopez did was way bigger, he not only broke his jaw in two pieces, made him quit, but ruined what was to be a huge (still at the time) PPV! Josesito did become a star from his performance, they're just not paying him like one. Although Steve Kim from MaxBoxing did tweet me explaininh Josesito is probably getting a substantial amount more, that is just not being reported :yep
