Lowest purse for a challenger ever? Even Molina made $250.000 for the fight in June.

    Deontay Wilder is a fraud.

Of course not the lowest purse ever, because in the ye olde days when people were stil walking around in greyscale $140.000 was a fortune.

But for the last 30 odd years at HW, that's a good bet.

Glowacki also got 10x less than Huck, and we all know how that ended

If Wilder keeps gettting payed "low" purses like that, I don't believe his "advisor" Haymon can keep him from fighting a real opponent for long.
A Wlad fight and certainly a Povetkin fight will land him multiple times that $1.4M purse.

I believe he got offered $10M for the Povetkin fight. If he survives tonight, he will earn another $1.4M purse for the Wawrzyk bout and cash out with $15M vs Povetkin.

Wilder isn't making much himself so it shouldn't be a surprise his opponents are making peanuts.

I wouldn't compare $140.000 of the old days with today. Different generation, economy, currency value, situation...etc.

Remember when people were attacking Wlad for "lowballing" fighters with $1.5 million for title fights?

It's pretty obvious Wilder isn't a big draw. I find it strange that some think Wilder would bring anything, other than the WBC belt, to the table in terms of a fight with Wlad, Wlad made more from HBO in his last fight than Wilder does.

US fans haven't fallen for his carefully managed rise to a title, everyone but his most hardcore fans knows he's nothing more than a paper champion.

While it's pitiful in terms of money for a heavyweight title shot it's not like Duhaupas had any better offers.

When he fought Teper for the vacant IBF inter-continental belt the winning purse bid was 30K Euros, so he would have made 15K Euros, which is almost $17K, so this is likely by far his biggest purse and it's a title shot he would normally never receive. This is a huge opportunity for him.

Wilder is not only a fraud and a con man, he's also ripping off the stiffs he's padding his record with. Is it any wonder so many of us want to this this joke get his glass jaw shattered????

..."only $140.000"? WTF do you think he deserves? He lost his 2nd-to-last fight and only beat journeyman Charr by majority decision (shortly before Charr was KTFO by a cruiserweight) and has lost both times he stepped up to even C+ grade European level in Pianeta and Teper.

His best win is Jarno freaking Rosberg. 140k is perfectly adequate for him.
