Yes push up bars depending on the exact model are great because they allow you do dip lower, which will provide for a better stretching of the pec and delt muscles as opposed to regular push up where you have to stop when your chest hits the floor
Just do pushups between 2 chairs (or boxes or whatever) and legs on another chair. Cheaper then getting bars and there are the same thing.
I find that using my push-up bars is much more comfortable than regular push-ups. Plus (as loblow said) it allows you to dip lower
I have read in an exercise book that dipping farther can actually cause injuries. Now they werent talking about pushups, but they were talking about dumbell bench presses and bringing the dumbells too far back could cause injuries. They said your arms should only go to level with the floor and you shouldnt bring them down farther than that with the dumbells as it could cause injury. Any truth to that?
i dont think this is exactly true, i think 1 guy had a problem with his shoulders and looked for something to blame it on.
Guess I don't know for a fact, but ive been using pushup bars and also always only do dumbbell bench (funny you mention that too) with absolutely no problems for a couple years now
