    A lot of potential quitting

    FOTC Frazier beats him. He probably beats any other version of Frazier.

    Ali up to the Rumble in the Jungle beats him.

    Foreman of Jamaica could be a tossup. Might come down to who wants it more. Liston was technically more proficient, but lacked the kind of urgency and spirit that Foreman had. Maybe this quality in Foreman would be his downfall against Liston. I just feel Foreman is tougher.

    Quarry is a longshot. He would probably lose on cuts but is a dark-horse.

    Ellis gets pummeled down inside 3 rounds.

    Norton gets pummeled inside 5 rounds.

    Shavers gets knocked out inside 3 rounds.

    The mob got pretty dispersed after D'Amato's efforts with Patterson. But it's still possible I guess.

    I'm tired of everyone saying Liston quits in these fantasy matchups.
    Liston only quit when he was past his prime, and undertrained, and old. Every other time he fought hard wars, showing good heart.
    I think FOTC Frazzier runs into the right uppercut and gets sparked early.

    Liston knocks out Frazier. Loses to Ali(though he could catch the slower 70s Ali), knocks out foreman, knocks out norton, stops quarry on cuts, decisions jimmy young, knocks out lyle, knocks out shavers. Liston pretty much dominates except Ali. Ali is the one man who i pick to beat him.

    Man i wouldnt wanna see him vs ken norton, that would be bloody murder. He would blast frazier too, but i think foreman can beat him.

    Well, if you mean the prime Liston of 1959 to 1960 for the entire decade (unfair in a way because he would age), I think he takes them all. Norton hasn't got a shot. Frazier just doesn't seem likely to me. Liston is too fundamentally sound for Foreman. Shavers has a puncher's chance, but I don't see it. I don't think Ali had the movement by this time. Ellis and Quarry would be slaughtered. Holmes--no. The best chance of an upset is probably from a cutie like Young if Sonny comes in overconfident.

    haha-Young beating Liston in retrospect is funny. Not only does Young punch like a butterfly: He's tiny in heavyweight standards and doesn't have the movement to bother Liston. BUT! Young does have a great defense and a very solid chin. he also has 15 round stamina, a good jab, and a GREAT counter right hand lead.
    I would still pick Liston to smash the **** out of Young in a UD.

    What about Bugner, Cooney, Holmes?
    I think Liston stops bugner, rocks cooney within 5, and gives holmes a good fight and floors him with a right cross.
    I personally think that prime Liston would have a huge shot over Post exile Ali. Ali wouldn't have the speed or movement he had and Liston would be better trained this time.
    Liston would use his left hook which was extremly vulnerable to Ali and then jab at him, something that Ali always had trouble with.
    Prime Liston vs Ali 74' would be great. I'd give it to Ali but it's possible for liston to take it too.

    You might be right that Young has no chance, but he did defeat Foreman. As for being tiny, he was 6' 2", taller than Liston, and weighed 209 for Ali and 213 for Foreman. He might well come in with a couple of pounds of weight advantage over a prime Sonny who sometimes went under 210.

    I'd favour Liston of 1958-60 to beat everyone in the 1970s, apart from Ali of 1970-74.
