The build up sort of reminds me of the arguments people made before the De La Hoya - Pacquiao fight. Some salient points, but mostly generic cliché talk like 'he's too big and strong' and 'he's fought a higher calibre of a opponent in the division'. The last point is true but not really a factor because of how **** the heavyweight division has been in recent years.
The British attitude is we have a divine right of sporting superiority and we will win:twisted: IF/when our boy loses Cooper Bruno etc etc we can then get behind him in the rightful British mind state of gallant loser.
So Haye will use his speed to knock out Wlad. Is this really the most probable outcome based on what we have seen of the two fighters in the past? Rationally I see it that Haye will not want to engage too much because of Wlad's power. Remember Haye has been hit regularly in previous fights. Lennox Lewis has already said that Haye's best chance is to fight like he did against Valuev which seems plausible to me. I see Haye staying on his toes out of range and then trying to land a few flashing shots per round. Wlad is the much stronger man with the bigger fire power so if Haye stands in front of him he will be out powered and kept at reach by a very conservative Wlad. Haye has power so this gives him a punchers chance but factual analysis of the two fighters musts admit that Wlad has the greater tools. Thats why the bookies see it as a Wlad win..........they make a living out of being right.
"British attitude is we have a divine right of sporting superiority" Won't be long until the 1966 Fifty Year Aniversary.
Impressive.... the closer the fight is getting the more and more i think this will happen exactly... I even dreamt the fight would play out like this the other night Even though Im rooting for haye i do think he will be stopped later on. It will be a very cagey affair in the first 3 rounds.... it will make for a funny picture when both are following each other around not really doing much.... I just hope haye lands something meaningful in the fight so we can all see what wlad is truly made of.
I think Haye will fight like in the Valuev fight except I don't think Wlad is going to be able to take the shots Valuev got walked onto.
They assess the odds and pick who they think will win. They then set the odds slightly in their favour. The punters then influence the odds by who they bet on. The bookies hedge against a big loss and lower the odds. The odds on Haye, in his home country where there are a lot of people betting on him out of national pride, are 6/4 in a two horse race. The bookies will lap up any money on Haye at 6/4 as they know people aren't betting with their heads. Its the exact same as Man U always having poor odds because they have so many fans around Britain betting on them.
Haye has power but I only see him as having a punchers chance. When I said Wlad has the better tools I meant he would be very happy for Haye to stand in front of him and fight. In this type of trade off there would only be one winner......Wlad.......too big a reach and too strong. Haye has power but Wlad has more power and Haye hasn't been hit wth what Wlad has in his punch. Wlad has a suspect chin but Haye's chin is not bullet proof either. The difference is that Wlad has is better at protecting his chin. With Wlads current caution first style of the last few years no fighter has been able to break him down or get through to him. Look what he did to Chagaev.
If it worked exactly as you said, you would always make money betting on the favorite since the bookies are always correct. The major reasons they're successful are not only mug money, but also house edge.
The 1966 jibe was very light hearted in response to the guy who tongue in cheek was talking about British sporting superiority. I'm Irish and have no issue with English people. I think of all the people around the world the people most similar to the Irish are the British. We're not that different but we do enjoy ribbing each other.
haye has no chance in this fight, Wlad will win every round and KO Haye at will. If haye tries to brawl then Wlad will KO him in 3 or less, if haye runs it will Take Wlad a few rounds longer to KO him, maybe 8 or 9. My bet is Wlad wins by KO in 3, and wins every round no matter how long the fight goes.
Thats actually a very nad example...Man U have **** odds because people lump on them because they win a lot
