I honestly thought that this was a Jack Johnson thread.

Jack Johnson had to have been one of the greatest champions.

 

Ali really admired Jack Johnson. There's a transcript in one of his biographies of a phone conversation with Joe Frazier. During the conversation they both came to the conclusion that Jack Johnson was the greatest. I think they both largely admired what a total brave man Johnson was.

 

You know, what Ali is basically saying is 100% correct.
Johnson was on his own.

 

Johnson really must have been crazy if you think about the historical context of that era. If a black fighter did what he did TODAY people would try to get him cancelled so think about how insane it was back then when you could be lynched just for looking at a white man.

 

Not crazy as such. but proud and knew his own self worth, a true pioneer a man that all opressed people should look up to, now and forever.

 

He was a Giant.

 

I didn't mean crazy in the diagnosed with a mental illness sense of the word.
