by early do you mean all the cans he fought ?

in his 11th pro fight he was fighting a guy who was 4-3-3
his 15th fight a guy who was 5-0
    16th fight a guy 7-11
    17th 21 wins -16 losses

to the guy earlier bashing tyson about going 10 rounds with ribalta, vitali fights ribalta 12 years later in his 21st fight and ribalta has 14 losses at this point
his 25th fight he fights a guy with 11 wins 2 losses

his first name guy he fought was herbie hide, good power, good record but he was a guy the size of chambers who eventually went down to cruiser
even in his 31st fight he was fighting 5 foot 9 former cruiserweight champ orlin norris

the guy really didnt fight anyone dangerous until he fought lewis..and he was beaten up in a sloppy fight
from lennox up he has fighting guys that at least had a shot at beating him.... but b4 that, its pretty bad....

Lennox made some comments in the Arreola fight about how Vitali wasn't hitting him that hard with the right - and wondered if he was nursing an injury. I took that to mean "he's not hitting him as hard as he hit me"

I assumed Vitali was avoiding putting 100% on his punches due to injury concerns.

Vitali arm punches more than Wlad does. Is that just poorer technique, or is he doing that deliberately? I'm assuming strength-wise they are similar, and Vitali likely naturally a little stronger because he's a little bigger. Wlad's faster with better technique, so punch for punch Wlad is a more powerful puncher when he commits to the shots

    hummm

Just watch his fights, scrap the silly statistics. He is so obviously not punching very hard now compared to earlier. It has nothing to do with later opponents taking his best, he doesn't commit to his punches anymore (or he can't).
So while you're right that he's no Earnie Shavers, the excercise in statistics is quite unnecessary.

Iceman71, you raise some great points. That's some well thought out stuff.

In the end Vitali beats the **** outta people, and Tyson knocks them the **** out.
