Gomez is a MUCH better defensive fighter, better pedigree, better chin, and more of counter puncher. I'd say technically Gomez is the better fighter. Haye on the other hand clearly has the better speed and power. Youth in my opinion is overrated I won't give that advantage to Haye.

Haye MUST'VE been as green as the grass is in the Spring time if Gomez was smacking him around in sparring...... Gomez is quite a bit older than Haye is, too........ Years back, I can see the more mature Gomez handing Haye his head in the gym...... But what about today in 2009?? Gomez at age 35 certainly has regressed at 230 pounds...... Haye is peaking....

Today hayes is much better then gomez, he hits harder, he has got better skill, he is faster

June 20, minutes after hayes knock out loss to wlad, hayes sucked, hayes covered up, hayes speed was over-rated, wlad should had the balls to fight gomez,,,,,,

Truth is, unless he beat wlad, the general thought will be NO...

Gomez to me looked good agaisnt vitali till about the fifth, at that point he was broken down an couldn't do no more,,,He didn't have agreat punch, but he landed an offen, he was in vitali face almost to the end,, I thought his skill looked top 5 to me, Vitali just better, so those skills arn't going to look impressive, you have to compare it to a sanders fight, were it was much more one sided....

I say what i saw of hayes in the barrett fight, who's punch is not as hard as gomez, i think hayes would more then likly lose to gomez by KO, an come june 20, everybody else will agree:hi:

Maybe if Haye loses him and Gomez can have a fight?

A kind of 'So who was actually the best CW of the last decade?' deciding fight.

Gomez is better than Haye in all departments but physical condition. Though, Gomez was quite fit when he fought as cruiserweight. He was very athletic.

Gomez is clearly the more skilled fighter. But that's not everything. Haye is always in good condition and brings one punch KO power to the ring, therefore he has a better chance beating Wladmir "Chinny" Klitschko. In the meantime, Gomez would probably make it to the 12th unlike Haye, who either stops the Ukranian early (25%) or gets stopped early (75%).

Vs. Vitali, Gomez had early success which I can't see with Haye. Landing some shots here and there yes, that's what Gomez did, but not doing enough to win a single round, especially not rocking Vitali. Unlike Wladimir, he's aggressive and throws a lot of punches, and would catch Haye early with a clubbing shot sending David down for the 10 count.

Now a fight between Haye and JCGomez: at CW, I see an early stoppage for Gomez, who was a beast down there and very fast, I don't see the Hayemaker landing, and David has serious defensive and balance problems a classy Cuban can easily use against him. Gomez had serious power back then, Haye has a very suspect chin.

At HW, in 2009, It a tough call. I'd probably favor Gomez slightly. I just don't see Haye outworking anyone, he's always looking for the KO which he might get if Gomez is out of shape, but despite the loss, I think Juan Carlos did fairly good vs. Vitali and I certainly don't see Haye doing the same vs. the Cuban. Most likely it'd be a boxing match with Gomez looking very carefully to the Hayemaker and countering Haye rather easily to get a stoppage win.

You hit it on the nose, farmy!

Some people here tend to hail Haye as the next big thing who has come out nowhere saving the heavy weight division.

Haye beat a very average American journeyman like Berrett and a Polish no-hoper like Bonin. The same people tend to forget that he had a death and life struggle with Mormeck, has a loss in his fight record, and that his defence is as open as the blue sky at times.
He really hasnt proved that much at heavy.
Yes,he has the gift of the gab,can talk like a chatterbox.
However, that doesnt mean that he will be competetive against Wlad.
I for one wont be surprised to see him knocked out within the first 2-3 rounds in his upcomming encounter with Wlad.

I am shocked to hear that Gomez is actually receiving a lot of praise here on this thread. I thought for sure the world would do a "Hatchet" job on him for failing against Vitali Klitschko....

As for David Haye, we seem to have many doubters (Including Myself) on ESB seriously questioning his heart and soul as well as his abilities.... I'm not so sure Dave Haye realizes what he's in for when he fights Wlad Klit...

Its just pure hate if any of you believe that Gomez is currently better than David Haye. Either that or your just all that thick ie Farmboxer :deal

Haye is quicker, much much more powerful, better footwork, wont just stand in front of them like Gomez did vs Vitali.

Roll on 20th June, your all in for a shock :hi:

Haye is like Tyson as far as raw offensive skills.
This is the most dangerous fight Wlad has ever had. He hits harder than Correy Sanders and is much faster too.

Let's not lose touch with reality..... Haye is still a blown-up Cruiser who looks solid upward of 220 pounds, but to say he hits harder on a punch-4-punch basis than that of Corrie Sanders is a tad hard to digest..... Haye is the better boxer; no doubt there.........

I laugh at how Corrie Sanders is made out to have such incredible power because he knocked Wlad out. Haye hits alot harder and quicker :deal

How is it hard to digest? How is Corrie rated at having so much power? Because he knocked out Wlad? His 67% KO ratio is not that great for a heavy. Its clear to see Haye's punches have more pop to them especially his straight right.

    :huh

So sanders punched harder then haye

Sanders was a slightly above average puncher at best, he gets far to much credit for smashing wlads chin :deal

No doubt Sanders hits harder then Haye.

Compared to Haye Gomez is the better boxer and has the better chin.

Haye of 2009 ist faster than Gomez

Corrie Sanders of 2000-2004 would KO Haye early

Sanders was as fast as Haye is today but had more punching power and a better chin
