but in response to the actual question, I think with the loss of a lot of self confidence, his performances will deteriorate and he will never have the drive to push himself past his physical shortcomings again

First things first, he needs to get into way better shape then he currently is in. He needs to stop being lazy. His only losses are to the Klitschko's, so he can still win another title in the future I think.

Have you studied the history of boxing? Lack of self confidence??? Jake Lamotta lost five times to the great Sugar Ray Robinson but beat him once in an over the weight contest. Do you think Jake lost his self confidence because he lost to a champion? He went on to become a legend. Roberto Duran quit against Sugar Ray Leonard in the infamous no mas fight but went on to win two more titles and become a legend himself. Gee dude, you have a real positive approach to life, don't you? I win so I have drive to win again, but if I lose I lose my self-respect and will never push myself to achieve greatness again. Dude, stop projecting your weakness and frailty on prizefighters. These men are warriors and take one fighting day at a time. They deal with broken noses and fractured eye sockets; not pathetic self-esteem issues so give Peter some respect. He has lost to two heavyweight champions and that is all. He can still be a dominant force in his division and be champion again.

I'm just not sure if Sam has it in him anymore, you just can't be taken serious when you come in good shape for one fight and in bad shape for five fights and can't go far either.

He's actually a good fighter but does he want to show it?, still looking forward to his next fight.

Fight was stopped? Who stopped it? His heart was broken in that fight - thats why he quit. Holyfield (or many others) in there would have fought till they dropped - he knew he was letting go of his title. I kept thinking he knows he's far behind he's gonna have to go for broke and go for a KO but no he decided on his stool that he cant win. His heart didn't seem that huge to me when I watched the fight live. He just didn't like getting humiliated by an old rusty Vitali.

I think weve seen the best of Peter to be quite honest.... I think he will continue to be a name in the division, but i think the Wlad fight will always be when he was at his best physical shape, and the Toney fight will be his best performance....

From here on out... he will win more then he loses, but imo never again really be the threat he was before.

he won't improve, his boxing IQ is just not high enough, hill probably stay the same. He should try to fight Haye before Haye fights one of the Klitschkos.
