Brubaker climbs from his waistline to his jaw with left and right hooks. Balla can't punch his way free. Brubaker is showing him no respect, just pitching in and gunning. Balla clinches. Brubaker turns his body to make Balla miss a lunging jab, grazing his chest. Brubaker throws a hard lead right over Balla's head as he ducks just in time. Body shots by Brubaker. Balla crouches and tries ambushing Brubaker with an up-jab but misses. 10-9 Brubaker 88-83 Brubaker
Round 10 Clinch. Brubaker lands a looping right and is warned for hitting on the break. That's a bit unfair considering breaks are occurring roughly every five seconds. Balla is holding on for dear life. Brubaker is smashing down with both fists sailing up in the air first, but is smothered with Balla's head driven into his chest and is missing wide of him on either side. Balla keeps clutching at Brubaker's underarms and torso. Brubaker tries freeing a hand to work to the body. Big slapping right by Balla, landing partially behind the neck. Balla jabs Brubaker in the belly with a stiff-arm to the ropes. 10-9 Balla, he was negative enough that his little bit of work actually outweighed that which he let Brubaker get off. 98-92 Brubaker
Official cards: Andrew Campbell 98-92 Aneeka Williams 96-94 Tony Maretta 97-93 UD for Qamil Balla. :blood
Baffling. I felt generous giving him round 10, and before that he was getting chased down and pounded when not tying up in all but two.
They just showed highlights of Amonsot vs. Wills - and it was a savage beating from Czar. Wills did a chicken dance. Always nice to see a habitual foul-monger get their comeuppance. The one-hit by Horn was nice, too. He put Colomban to sleep.
The upside is that we should soon see Amonsot rip Balla apart. :yep He won't be dissuaded by the spoiling, either. He and Wills both had a deduction and repeated warnings in the 1st round for hits on the break. (Amonsot is generally clean; Wills' reputation precedes him...so you know it was Czar not taking **** and retaliating in kind...) Qamil won't get away with all the same nonsense. Brubaker gave him more respect for much of the way. Amonsot will be out for blood right out the gate.
Ah, so he did. He freed himself up to claim the vacant Pan Asian 140lb title against Wills today. On the broadcast, Fox 2 showed a graphic with Amonsot listed as the #1 contender. #2 is the man he beat to capture the Aussie title, Addisu Tebebu. For some reason they leapfrogged the #3 and #4 guys to have Balla and Brubaker duke it out for Czar's old belt. :think Go take back what's yours, Czar! Smash that jittery clinch-mad runner! Balla vs. Brubaker II would be acceptable, too.
