Qawi consistently gets under Beterbiev, consistently counters him, and is more than strong enough to deal with him and push him back. He is also proven H2H against higher class fighters. Spinks power wasn't enough to get past his defense. Beterbiev wouldn't do it.

    Qawi later stoppage.

    And I love the avatar.

Qawi. I'm not quite as sold on Beterbiev as some others.

I still think Beterbiev has questions to answer in terms of what will happen the first time he comes across someone who can push him back. He's been facing guys who usually try to keep it long or give him the green light to initiate. Against Kölling and Gvozdyk, it was noticeable to me that whenever they stopped retreating and tried to be a bit more proactive (which was very little in Kölling's case, to be fair) Beterbiev didn't look comfortable punching on the back foot. Whenever he has to deal with a decent attack he usually puts his guard high and pulls straight back - which is fine to a degree, especially against these guys who were never going to stay on the front foot for long. But he's not in a position to counter.

You'd better believe Qawi will push him back, though. Beterbiev has decent speed and can put combinations together switching between head and body - Qawi can also do that and then some. I also think Qawi has much better and more unpredictable movement coming in, has quicker hands and obviously had fantastic stamina at his best. Beterbiev's jab is classy, but hasn't come up against anyone who moves their head and gets low as they come in like Qawi.

Beterbiev might well be capable of elevating his game to an even higher level, but he needs an outstanding opponent to prove that against. As of now, on what I've seen, I can't take him over Qawi. I think Dwight chops him down late in a barnstormer, where Beterbiev is very game but takes a lot of punishment.

Spinks found Qawi easy to hit and Beterbiev will throw a lot of shots but he comes in towards his foe in a straight line so is easy to catch, I have to see more of him to judge, but I`m not impressed with him at all from what I`ve seen.

Qawi mid rounds after a slugfest Qawi had the better defence and that would play a big factor
