How do you think he would do if time traveled back to the 50's into the Marciano era? How do you think he'd do in the field of Moore, Walcott, Charles and Marciano him self?

    Not well

I feel as though he'd struggle to consistently beat some of the top contenders such as Layne, Valdes, LaStarza and Satterfield.
Though he'd be in top contention, I feel that he'd pick up a loss somewhere there

I can't see him beating Charles, Walcott, and certainly not Marciano

He might have an interesting fight with Moore, who I'd pick to knock out Qawi

I'd pick him to consistently best the mid tiers/gatekeepers like Savold, Brion and Shkor

How about at light heavy considering that was his best weight. Never stopped against fellow ATGs in Spinks and MSM 2 times. I think his body punching would give Moore problems and he had the chin to soak up some bombs throughout his career. Took Old Foreman 8 rounds to stop him. I think he'd be a bad style match-up for Archie.

Charles could very well out point him but Qawi would get his licks in for sure.

He might be a bad style matchup for Archie, but I dunno. Charles would stop him IMO. Charles' era was extremely strong, though before Moore the title was being tossed around alot.

I think Qawi could beat Maxim. I think Qawi would beat Marshall, Bivins, and Kid Matthews. So I could see Qawi becoming a flash champ, but ultimately being dethroned by Archie or (heavens forbid) Charles himself

Foreman took 7 rounds btw. Honestly I thought it was 2, but I was mixing him up with Bert Cooper. Don't underestimate Moore's ability to crack though

He would destroy Layne. He would outman him on every level,

Ehhhh don’t think a prime Layne loses. He may out point a la starza and beat a cockel but prime Layne wasn’t a bad fighter. Under rated really.

Looks like I think more highly of him than some others. I think he would be among the best at LHW, and perhaps I overrate him and Holyfield? But I think he would give Marciano, Walcot and Charles a good contest at HW. With Charles perhaps pulling a Spinks type of lopsided win.

At LHW he either becomes the man or second fiddle or develops a back and forth quartet of fights with Moore as the dominant fixture of the decade.

Not sure if I am overrating him or others are not taking him serious enough?

He'd likely be right in the mix. He'd lose to the top fighters though

Apparently wins such as bombing out Bob Satterfield, beating (off-condition) Jersey Joe, Cesar Brion, and a revenge 4th round knock of the only man who defeated him (dunno why a green Rex Layne was put in against 27-2 Dave Whitlock) don't matter, cause he lost to Marciano so you gotta discredit him or Marciano might've beaten a good 6'1" young & prime heavyweight contender

His stoppage at the hands of Holyfield is really damaging imo (not that holy isn't great, but he wasn't exactly a devastating puncher). His record doesn't exactly scream impressive, with his best win being over Saad Muhammad

I was going off of Holyfield I, if I am looking at the best Qawi of that approximate weight. That should put him competing at HW of the 50’s.

Losing to Spinks at LHW (interesting to look deeper at this one) and competitive close SD loss to Holyfield, does not make me believe he will be non competitive at the top level....only the top level of Marciano Charles Walcott Moore and Paterson might stop him. But I think he was to good to fall down to gatekeeper status as well

Qawi vs Harold Johnson would be interesting....being both weighed in around 180 +/- at times.

Apparently his alcoholism and really taken hold around the time of the second Evander Holyfield flight. He had a pretty good run beating g Matthew Saad Muhammad twice, as well As Jerry Martin, Mike Rossman and James SCOTT at Rahway. I think of him as understandably underrated given his overall record.

You are exactly correct. Qawi as pretty much done after the first Holyfied fight and struggled with alcoholism later in his career. When in his prime Qawi could hang with anyone in any era. Aside from his wins his losses to Holyfield and Spinks were very close fights.

Holyfield to this day says that Qawi was his toughest opponent which should speak volumes about his quality as a fighter to anyone with a clue. He would absolutely be a handful for Moore, Charles and even the Rock.
