Everyone knew Turki was a dck. This was evident way back. I didn't think this Saudi link up would end this badly for both Hearn and Warren. They are getting chucked out of the house now like they're prostitutes that have just been used and now need discarding. This lawsuit is interesting. TKO/Sela/Zuffa needing some knowhow on how boxing works so they used Queensberry to find out how boxing works, how events are run and everything else that goes with it. Sela then ran with it and Zuffa was born. Dana White has been trying to get Zuffa off the ground for years but it's never materialised. Hope Frank wins.
Turki may have bags of money but so did DAZN and that hardly took off. The Ring article throwing shade on the Wardley Vs Dubois fight is nonsense- it's as good as heavyweight clash that anyone could wish for right now. And one thing you certainly can't buy is atmosphere. Watching all those Saudis sat on there phones in a silent stadium hardly gets the blood pumping Frank and Hearn are missing a trick and not doing their own matchroom vs Queensbury cards. Plenty money to be made there
Ring Magazine will have all the credibility of the "IBO Silver Continental" Belt within the month at this rate
As Simon Jordan rightly said earlier, if there's a genuine case to answer then good US lawyers will take it on commission. If it's in the UK then that's more difficult and less common. Wouldn't it be a turn of events if the shake-out from this past 2-3 years resulted in Matchroom bailing out Warren?
Wasn’t most on here sucking the Saudis off a few months ago? What’s caused the switch? Warren disputing with them?
My post history will show I’ve always criticised them and said the negative effects will be long lasting on British boxing.
Ring magazine stance has also confirmed that as many media outlets as possible have been pushing the narrative of Turki. this may be the exception, which is why it’s come as a suprise to many
I don't think it's this black-and-white. Warren and Hearn hated each other for over a decade, then in the space of a few years, we got the 5 vs 5, the first undisputed heavyweight fight for 25 years, and other great fights which were never going to happen in a million years, like Bivol vs Beterbiev. It was always going to sour because usually these things do when a collective group of rich narcissists all want total control, but without the initial involvement of the Saudi's, we wouldn't have got many great fights. They were a breath of fresh air at the start, but now the sport is reverting back to type and eating itself from the inside again, same as it ever was.
Good Fights did get made before Turki though, I’ve never understood this narrative. I’m not as fussed about undisputed as others are. How do we know bivol and beterbiev never going to happen in a million years? Many big fights get made and for the past year boxing has been a bit boring, even with Turkis involvement. I understand we get big nights, but they are rare.
