Not between Hearn and Warren they never. The Saudis bridged this gap. Bivol and Beterbiev were Matchroom vs Top Rank, and came with a whole host of promotional and network issues that stunted it for years until the Saudi's basically injected so much money into it that all parties were happy. Depending on how this Zuffa stuff unravels, it might not have been worth it in the long run, but there's going to be a lot more heat aimed at Zuffa & Turki from promoters, sanctioning bodies, and government regulators over the next 12/18 months.

So was the excitement over Turki just because it brought Eddie and frank together? And that silly 5 vs 5 gimmick?

I’m fully aware of the cross network/promotional issues in boxing when fights are getting made, this is commonplace in history but the still have got made. The peak eras of boxing still had these issues.

I think some of you just fell for the Saudi hype and narrative of being this saviour to this apparently broken sport. It’s insane how powerful the media are in telling people what to think, they always spin the narrative to whoever pays them, understandably.

Boxing has stalled and quite badly before the Saudi money came in
Fans were happy that fights started to get made more frequently and quickly
As they /we should, being the consumers

I don't think anyone on here ever denied the end game for the Saudis was confusing and even though they have now taken the next step, it's still hard to put a finger on what they actually aim to achieve in the end

Personally I was all for it as despite people telling me the issues British boxing would have long term because of such involvement I was am still am very confident it'll come again

Covid stalled boxing. It was good before Covid, champs fighting 2/3 times a year.
He may have helped it restart, but like I say, other than the odd big events, I’ve not seen much special

It is clear Turki is used to getting his own way, that article is beyond immature.

So if he has handled the business stuff like this. Warren could take him to school

Wouldn't be shocked in a few years if it comes out Turki is a sex case nonce, it is one thing being the Saudi boy throwing money around and controlling things but he properly creeps me out

One thing I will give Frank, in contrast to someone like Hearn, is that boxing is his life and has been so for the majority of his life. Whilst I can see Hearn packing it in and doing something else if Matchroom loses significant stature, Frank and Queensbury will always keep going. Hell, in the event of a nuclear apocalypse, once the fallout has died down Frank will be out there putting on shows in the radioactive remnants of the Telford International Centre.
