    How does it work?
Assuming you have enough fights and wins, and regional titles and whatnot, lot of hard work put in.

How does one get on the national team, go to the trials? Whena re the trials compared to the actual Games? 6 months before?

Anything would help egarding the subject.

The major problem is the politics involved around Olympic selection. Team GB seem to quickly establish a roster which in my experience they're reluctant to change.

Not enough talented amateurs get given an opportunity to fight internationally against top drawer opponents.

I know a few fighters that won the aba title, you then get a call up from team gb for trials up at their base in Sheffield, train with the rest of the squad for 3 days I think. You get put through the tough training and spar fighters already on the squad.

If they don’t like the look of you then you won’t get picked regardless of how many amateur titles you’ve won and even if you walk through and stop the other fighters at your weight in the squad.

They are looking for quick technical fighters with a good jab and movement that throw punches correctly, not your Ricky Hatton type brawlers. simple as that really

Regarding being asked to go up for trials you usually have to have won an aba title or Haringay box cup and I think have had at least 20 -30 amateur fights
