Opetaia takes it in a competitive fight, late stoppage maybe on cuts, or maybe it goes the distance. Quarry can’t outbox Opetaia at long range, he didn’t get the most extension on his punches and Opetaia can, which means Quarry has to close the distance and when he does so, he comes in square on which would leave him wide open for the straight left. Opetaia can get gung-ho, but if he doesn’t and instead boxes at range and just wait patiently for Quarry to commit square on and time him, he can beat Quarry well, but I doubt he’d do that, I feel he tries to take Quarry out early, eats a few counters then he realises he needs to keep the punches long and be patient.
Opetaia. Bigger, faster and harder hitting. Quarry could win if he avoids a brawl early and opens up vs a fading Jai later on. I am not sure if Quarry could resist trading with Jai. Opetaia late stoppage or UD.
I’d put Briedis quite a few classes above Lyle and Shavers, and Patterson arguably beat Quarry not to mention being slightly past his peak years. From a head to head perspective I wouldn’t put Floyd a level above Briedis either.
This. When Opetaia moves up to heavyweight and beats some contenders there would be something to debate here, but until that happens Opetaia is unproven.
