I think so too... holding, holding and hitting, Ali's back against the ropes for the entire fight. :yep

    Lean towards Ali here.

Tyson could probably stun or hurt Ali early on, probably with a left hook, but eventually Ali would take over.

Prime Tyson had Rooney in his corner. Rooney wasn't some great trainer, but he was the right guy for Tyson.

Cus died when Tyson had only like 10 pro fights.

Yeah, he had like 55 pro fights. Only 5 guys stood their ground and weren't scared? LOL. You had to stand your ground AND have the right tactics/skills/talent to win. Most guys didn't. Ali probably would have.

Prime Ali spent less time on the ropes, he was able to keep the fight in the middle of the ring more. Foreman was a solid ring-cutter, and Ali's legs at that stage weren't the same. Ali more or less schooled Foreman off the ropes anyway, despite what the revisionist history would have you believing.

Tyson was better than Frazier in many ways (speed, two-fisted power, variety of punches), but also more prone to frustration and impatience (looking for one bomb).

So Tyson wouldn't have the success that Frazier did. He does have more of a chance at bombing out Ali because of his speed and power (even Ali admitted that). But given Ali's track record of not only taking good shots, but recovering from them, and his inhuman ability to take body punches, it's hard for me to pick Tyson to stop him.

Yes well said. The closest Ali was to his prime in 66-67 he would have danced for 15 rounds against Mike. He would not have gone to the ropes. Prime Mike would stand a better chance against Ali after his exile where he slowed down and got hit more often.

This is just a popularity contest. Style-wise, it's a no-brainer that Tyson easily beats Ali.

But Ali is "The Greatest", bla-bla-bla...

Ali comes out to an uncharacteristically fast start, realizing that Tyson was less effective when pushed backwards than when he comes forward. Using dazzling lateral movement, he keeps Tyson dazed and confused and roars to a fast 3-0 lead on the cards.

In the start of the fourth, Ali does the impossible and DROPS Tyson with a sharp right. It was more of a flash knockdown than Tyson being seriously hurt, but he's already fallen hopefully behind on the cards.

In the 5th round, Tyson begins a desperate rally, cornering Ali and unloading his left hook. Ali is hurt, and tries to hold on, but Tyson lands a monster uppercut on Ali, flooring him. Ali gets up, but is in bad shape. Luckily the bell saves him.

To start the 6th, Tyson once again comes out blazing, smelling blood. But Ali smartly ties him up and keeps his offence to a minimum as he regains his wits. The 6th is a frustrating round for Mike, who isn't able to get off at all without being tied up.

The 7th and Ali is back on his toes, while Tyson starts to tire. Ali starts landing combos on Tyson, whose foot speed has noticeably slowed.

The 8th and 9th continue that pattern, until once again Ali floors Tyson. This time, Tyson staggers back up, as much from fatigue as the force of the punch. Ali presses his advantage until the ref steps in and stops the fight in the closing seconds of the 9th.

    Ali stops Tyson!
