Haye would destroy Louis. A one-sided mismatch. The level in skill is just too wide, Louis' era is too primitive to compete with modern day HWs.

Louis is a great, great fighter but what a blowout by Vitali in this h2h matchup. His reflexes, mobility and chin would carry him to victory against Joe.

Vitali's size and skill makes it impossible for Louis to get anywhere near him, as he gets gradually worn down with rights and lefts, hardly able to mount a strong offence of his own. After being knocked down once in the third and once in the fourth, he's cornered in the 5th until his hands drops and the ref steps in to save him.

Your winner: Vitali by 5th round KO!

Why would Louis be unable to get anywhere near him?

Louis connected on plenty of guys similar enough in size to Vitali.

Vitali was connected on by plenty of guys similar enough in size and nowhere near his level of skill.

    I just don't get it...

Don't put too much stock into it; it's just a reflection of the poll results. The closer the poll is, the more competitive the fight is. This one wasn't close at all - it was equivalent to about a 5th round TKO.

Ivan Calderon would get 100% of the votes against Hekkie Budler, but that doesn't mean he would score a 1st round KO... 100% of voters would say that he would NOT score a 1st round KO.

Vitali has become so overrated it unreal. Hes way to slow and clumsy to beat Louis. Louis would destroy him.

Just to be cheeky, I would probably WOULD call it a "shock 1st round TKO that leaves the crowd in stunned silence"

Vitali has one of the highest KO percentages in heavyweight history. A knockout against Joe Louis doesn't seem that outrageous to me.

the only reason Vitali wins is ONLY because human beings have gotten bigger in the 70+ years since Louis' fighting days - and even then it is doubtful Vitali would win.

If Louis' was a regular sized HW by today's standard he would annihilate the bum Vitali who NEVER beat an elite fighter in his career EVER
