http://www.theboxingbulletin.com/2010/8/20/1633961/where-boxing-still-lives-a-visit very good article :bbb:bbb
The writer is wrong, boxing will never be popular in Canada, they just don't like it. And his ''international'' thing was bull****. I'm a Quebecer here and remain one outside of Québec.
He's right that he's Canadian, and boxing is a Quebec thing. It's not the same. They can enjoy these guys as fans, but they don't fight for them. GSP is more of a Canada thing, although he is more Quebecois than Bute and Pascal put together. It's weird like that. Boxing is more popular here than MMA. GSP does interviews on CBC and TSN and Sportsnet. Bute and Pascal are always on CKAC
I'd never actually leave Toronto. Not sure how far you can get only speaking english (I suppose Montreal has a lot of bilingual speakers) and there is no way I'd learn french.
Boxing becomes more and more popular here and one of the reason is the rivalry between GYM (Pascal) and Interbox (GYM). This is VERY good for boxing here in Quebec.
montreal is pretty bilingual now. there are sections, especially old montreal, where they give **** to anglophones but overall you can live there with only english. it's my second favourite city in the world but quebec is soooo secular and seperatist at times; they're ashamed of being considered canadian
I'm proud not to be Canadian. And don't come here if you don't speak a word of French. That's called respect. We have enough of your kind.:hi:
