Must be why thousands of Canadian came to Montreal to say "WE LOVE YOU" to help the "no" in 1995....

Quebec COULD live on is own.
    Why do you care anyway?

Actually, quite a few in New-Brunswick. The point he is making is that it is really disrespectful to the Québecers to come and live in Québec without taking the time to learn how to be at least functionnal in French. It's the same as Chinese immigrants that live in Toronto and don't speak a word of english. I personally have no problem with the Anglo-Canadians, expect those living in Québec that are unilingual.

No way man. Toronto has the most people and the most diversity. There's something for everyone here. Toronto by far.

Well, alot of people who don't live in big cities are not really aware of our linguistic situation. That's kind of sad. Also, Quebec City isn't the best example. Sorry to say that, but there are a lot of conservative ******s who listen to trash radio and hate Mtl for one reason or another. Look at Saguenay-Lac-Sait-Jean or Gaspésie. They're outside big cities but the majority of the population is separatist or at least nationalist.

it's possible but i doubt it. i think it would take A LOT of restructuring to make it feasible

i care out of general interest (canadian politics are generally boring and this is still a bit of a hot topic). also, i really do love the province and the time i've spent there hasn't revealed an overwhelming desire to seperate.

i get both sides, i get the language but it's an attitude that the country owes quebec certain things...an air of superiority that i see to this day.

and that's fair. it's easy for me to say so because the language i speak is the most dominant in the country. it would likely be different if my first language was being faded out, even within my homeland

but the idea that people wouldn't learn english and exclude those within quebec or that visit quebec that don't speak french is equally as disrespectful. i get your point though about losing your language and refusing to learn the native tongue

Not sure about that attitude...At least its far from being generalized.
Both sides have their own ******s...

We don't want to impose french everywhere, we just want Québec to stay french and live our lives in french. Even if seperation happened, its not like there would be a new Berlin wall at the frontier. Québec just has a different culture and Ideology than the rest of Canada.

yup, again a fair point. i'm pointing out the extremists but just like my side, there's plenty who are far too extreme and openly want to eliminate french from the country. that is horribly unfair and xenophobic as well

well put. it is a different culture and ideology and not necessarily a wrong one. i guess the rest of canada wants everyone to get along and be happy and shiny but quebec is a vastly different province than the rest of the country. i like what we have now though: quebec within canada but maintaining a cultural identity that frankly, many provinces lack

there are two national languages in canada, put it however you want but the country is bilingual.

i was too extreme with my view about seperation but you're right, better resource management and lots of planning would be necessary. i just don't it working myself but im no expert
