Hopefully this does come off as a dumb question but, what does it mean when it says a fighter lost by RTD?
Referee Technical Decision. It basically means the ref stopped the fight due to circumstances outside of a knockout.
Thats what I thought as well, I think thats what Tyson got for his fight with McBride, I will have to look it up to make sure I'm right.
So it does mean RETIRED, but it stands for Referee Technical Decision - which happens to be three letters in Retired. Incredible.
I always thought it was retired too :huh Its not really **** all to do with the ref if the fighter quits or his corner pulls him out, huh?
Yeah, I always figured it was the fighters retiring in the corner, like what O'Neil Bell did against Adamek, but I guess it isn't since boxrec says he lost by TKO..
I believe I saw TD one time; is that just technical decision then :huh ? I think it was for the Duddy/Bonsante fight (which I never saw so im not sure what happened)
The reason I asked the question was because I was looking at Kostya Tszyu record and it said RTD for his fight against Ricky Hatton and unfortuanately that's a fight I have never seened so thats when I decided to make the thread .
See, that's just bizarre isn't it? You could hardly put that under the category of "knock-out" of any kind, could you? I know it's semantics, but these things get to me, retired would be far more apt :yep
I know How the **** could you put O'Neil Bell's soft ass quitting in the same category as Taylor getting blasted half to death until he's saved by the god damn ref? That's a real TKO Damn this just raised my stress levels right before bed
