I apologize if this has been answered but not to my knowledge. Please comment only if you have some type of knowledge base regarding the questions I have. Lefty and a few others have quality posts with good insight. For a sport such as boxing, what would be better, hanging cleans or power cleans? I have some thoughts but want feedback to base my training upon. In a sport such as boxing that is more speed-strength dominated, is it more beneficial to work on moving a lighter weight faster or a heavier weight slower as it pertains to a snatch or clean? Thanks for the feedback.
either is fine, it doesn't matter that much in your position, probably hang variations are a bit easier for a beginner not interested in the sport of weightlifting as it takes away a fair portion of the lift that is needed to set up an optimal lift. I wouldn't tell anyone in person to do them from the hang to begin with though, as I would show them the lift from the floor. by moving a heavier weight fast as possible you will get stronger and more powerful than moving a lighter weight faster, bar speed doesn't equate to more or less power example, you can throw a 1kg weight 10 metres, and a 10kg weight 5 metres. which do you think will make your body push itself to get stronger more and have to adapt to more? same with a 40kg clean you can move quickly vs a 100kg clean that you have to work for? or benching a 20kg barbell fast, or benching a 60kg barbell as fast as possible?
