No, if Clottey was dominating Cotto for the whole round, and gets drop by a jab, it's a 9-9 round.

Wo wo wo! Clam down there son. I thought we were having a good discussion there. You had to go and RUIN it. Disgusting behavior, throwing insults at someone agreeing with you.

    DISGUSTING and a DISGRACE.

    10-point MUST. Can't be 9-9.

Eh I thought that if a fighter dominates every second of the round than it's a 10-9, but if he gets dropped he loses a point so a 9-9?

it that case it becomes 10-10 again

only a point deduction from the ref can lead to neither fighter getting 10

No, as i said, on the 10 points must system the KD against the fighter otherwise winning the round evens the round up to 10 - 10

Don't you lose a point for getting knockdown?

It was a close round, and Cotto got a KD

that has to be 10-8 to Cotto, anything else is bad judging, imo

Absolutely no way in hell the round could be scored anything other than 10-8. By no means was Clottey dominating the round. It was a close round with both guys blocking 90% of the punches. Cotto landed some shots to the body whilst Clottey landed 3 or 4 decent shots to the head. Clottey would have won the round but neither guy landed more than 10 clean punches, if you watch closely Clottey missed most of his as well.

For the 10-8 not to occur, the guy who gets KD'd essentially has to be on his way to winning a 10-8 round without knocking his opponent down, by hurting the guy badly and more or less beating the **** out of him.

Don't mean to be rude but any notion that it is anything other than 10-8 is plain silly.

With regards scoring a round 10 - 10 with a KD i wasn't necessarily referring to round one of the Cotto/Clottey fight, i was just talking from a purely anylitcal point of view regarding the 10 point must system, in that a KD doesn't automatically mean a 10 - 8 round.

For example, lets take round six of Mayweather/Gatti. If Gatti had scored a KD in that round then would the round be scored 10 - 8 to Gatti? Of course not, at best it would be evened up to 10 - 10.

I scored it 10-8 for Cotto. For me, if a fighter goes down, he can be better at that round.
Cunningham dominated Adamek in round 4, but was sent to the floor seconds before the end of the round. There was no doubt from the judges and commentators: 10-8 Adamek

I scored it an even round, being knocked down does not automatically lose you a round. If he'd been hurt I'd have scored the round to Cotto but it was just a flash kd and I thought Clottey inarguably won the round
