No but it loses you a point. 10-9 or 10-8 is acceptable, infact looking back I should've gone with 10-8, I just didn't want to as it was such a close round.

IMO, It has to be scored 10-8 regardless...
    I defo understand the idea.
But even rounds are weak.....unless they are forced to flip a coin
(That decides who won) Which will never happen, But maybe it is better....

What if Clottey knocked Cotto down with a shitty punch in the last 5 seconds of round 6 in that fight?

You're telling me that means its all of a sudden a 10-8 round to Josh?

    That's bull****.

Not sure bro, Maybe the "Top Rank" PPV people?

But yeah, See that's the flaw in the scoring system.
Even rounds/Draw create prob's in tab total points.
(I say the even rd should be a No-Go! & banned)

Just pick one or the other.
(They do anayway, w/Even rd's they get to play to much of a factor)

    Yes,10-8.

Anyway the example is bad as Cotto clearly won the 6th and the first was razor thin.

The example highlights what a bull**** rule it is, if it is a mandatory rule that is.

The first round is a clear Cotto round with the KD, 10-8 and no debate should be had.

The example of Clottey knocking Cotto down in the last seconds of round 6 is an interesting one. In my eyes that would be a 10-10 round... Cotto dominated the round, Clottey scored a KD (although it would then depend how bad the KD was.....)

It's a very interesting debate, the answer is somewhat subjective.

it was a close round until the kd so it was a 10-8 in my opinion

I agree, but then theoretically you would have had to make that a 10-8 round for Cotto, which I never, but if he did give Cotto a flash KD at the end of that round then I would've scored it 10-10.

    LOL

How can there be 100 posts about this?

It's really simple, a knockdown gives you a lot of extra "weight" for the round. That is totally justifiable. So if Clottey is a little ahead, but knocked down in the end, it's 10-8 Cotto because that knockdown overrides a lot of the work that Clottey did. However if Clottey had been WAY ahead, then the knock down obviously doesn't mean you ignore the rest of the entire round. How could that possibly be justified? It would be an even round in that case.

10-8 Cotto. The round was very close before the knockdown. And it wasn't a slip, he got put down with a jab, not hurt just put down.

I will always score a round like that 10-8. If Cotto had have knocked Clottey down at the end of the 7th I would have scored it 10-9....but there was a clear distinction between Clottey winning round 1 (close but clear), and winning round 7 (domination).

I noticed some people bringing up Cunningham vs Adamek and there was one round in that fight that I scored 10-9 Adamek even though he got the knockdown. For me he was being brutilized before that.
