does the fact that Murray almost went the distance with him make him less of a boogeyman and other fighters will be more willing to face him or will the impact be 'jesus look at the beating you have to take if you go 11 rounds with him, it could end my career, **** that im not fight him? discuss
Just shows you the level of opponent he has usually been fighting, and most of them weren't very durable. Recall old shopworn small Ouma gave him rounds and was actually winning the fight when he was stopped.
Ouma was ahead at the time of the stoppage. If it was a younger Ouma with less wear and tear, Golovkin would have lost on points.
No, he wasn't. Boxrec shows no scores . Ouma held his own for 6 rds ( about even fight) then started fading. He took a vicious beating after that, and was out for more than 2 years . And the only reason Ouma had success is the fact GGG was sleep deprived.
That beating basically ended his career. Had the fight not been stopped Ouma could well be dead or a veggie. He did give a good account of himself no denying that, but he also clearly lost the fight.
The official cards were unanimous. Golovkin was ahead 1 point on two and 3 on the other at the time of the stoppage.
Yes, it was close. I remember watching the fight and thinking Ouma might be ahead. I rewatched and scored it, but now don't remember what score I had at the stoppage, but yes, it was close. He was backing GGG up and out boxing him for much of the fight. GGG was tougher though and ended up breaking him down finally.
Yeah, I thought Ouma could have been ahead as well from what i recall. I will have to rewatch it sometime, and see how I have it now.
