Hi everyone i have a question about gyms in the Los Angeles area. I was wondering what gyms you would recommend to someone wanting to fight in the amateurs with hopes of going pro. I was thinking of going to ten goose or wild card but was wondering if any one had experience with these and how it was. I was also wondering if they would still be willing to train me if i was 18 and take me serious because of my late start. Just trying to find the best gym to train me seriously. Thanks
I've been in Los Angeles on and off for over ten years, and just moved from there last week. what part of town are you in? LA is a big place with lots of gyms. call los angeles parks and rec and ask for centers that offer boxing. off the top of my head here's a couple other options: Broadway boxing in watts fabela chavez in carson westside boxing near pico/la brea if you're on the westside there's a PAL center in santa monica, on pico i think, for anyone under 24y/o. for you as a beginner, location will almost be the most important variable. if you won't go because you're sitting in traffic for an hour, it doesn't matter how good the gym is. best advice is to find at least three gyms that are available to you (time of day, location, etc) and sit in and watch. don't do, just watch. ask questions. see how the trainers treat the members. is it a hustle to try and make money off of you, or is it a quality service you are paying good money for?
