I notice that when I perfom tricks and jump faster, there is lag in my rope. Sometimes the lag results in misteaks. What brand do you consider to be the best of the best in speed-rope to avoid these lags.
I can't think of a rope that rivals Lifeline USA: http://www.lifelineusa.com/en/products/jump-ropes?section=all-products I use the .75 weighted speed rope with ball-bearing. I've also tested the speed rope. Both are superb.
How do these weighted speed rope's work? Is the weight on the handles, or at the center of the rope? Or both?
The weight is in the rope, as described here: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Lifeline-Weighted-Speed-Rope/dp/B003AC54DS[/ame]. Looking at mine, the weight isn't concentrated at any point of the rope; it is evenly distributed throughout - which is just as well, since you might be snipping off bits to adjust the length. The ball bearings increase speed and together with the weight balance, keep the rope in a perfect arc. The added weight itself goes to strength and endurance training.
Probably the weight of your rope. If you are using leather or really light plastic the drag you are feeling is you losing the "force" that keeps the rope in a circle around you. I would recommend the Altus speed rope. It is a bit heavier than most of the ropes you see, but it is a nice thick soft PVC rope. Cheap too. Hurts like hell if you get rolling and mess up! Only jump on concrete if you put medical tape on it and don't jump when it is cold (warm it up first).
