Tomorrows lightweight fight between Singwancha/Alfaro is advertised for the "vacant" WBA lightweight title.

Now from what I understand Juan Diaz defended this title 7 times in over about 3 years now.

Did the WBA seriously just strip this guy whos been representing their sanction's lightweight quality for the last 3 and a half years?

Juan Diaz is the WBA super champion.

This glorious and illustrous title is given to their WBA title holder who unifies his belt with another belt. Which leaves their other crown, the WBA Regular Title vacant, and therefore they can charge more fees for their leather strap.

But beware, if the WBA super champ gets stripped of his other belts then he is relieved of his super champ status and becomes beltless.

Thats the game that the We Be Assholes plays.

wow this is just messed up, hes going to lose his WBO title too because the Katsidas fight cant be made and if he doesnt fight Nate Campbell he becomes completely beltless not even atleast holding the Ring belt.

it doesnt matter...we all know who the #1 in the division is. He needs to fight Casa, and he will have effectively unified and become the undisputed lightweight champion.

Then there's the line of hungry contenders in nate cambell, katsidis, david diaz that he can spend him time against. **** the belts.

yup, these organizations can strip and assign new champs all they want, but the people know who the real champs are at the end of the day. Diaz is the number one guy at lightweight until someone beats him INSIDE the ring.

These “interim” and “regular” championships – so the big organizations – are the ones that responsible for our sport’s bad reputation. It’s not only the 4 different titles but now there’s a regularity of these “interim”, “regular”, “super champion”, “champion emeritus” **** all for the bigger income for these so called “non-profit” organizations. I’ve already said: maybe the end of the WBC would’ve been the best thing for our sport because there would be only 3 titles and the WBC’s case would be a precedent for the WBA, IBF, WBO.

Even with that you gotta feel for Prawet Singwancha. If in the States the Casamayor-Santa Cruz was the most horrible decision of the year, south of the border it was J. Cotto – Singwancha. At least they should recognize the winner if they’ve made the fight and Prawet was the clear winner.
