alright, let's use Bradley-Ruslan Rd. 6 as an example..

if a guy is controlling the majority of the round and tagging his opponent constantly, but ends up getting rocked/hurt with a couple of shots in the last 30 secs, who would you give the round to if you were a judge?

i had a hard time thinking about who to give it to, but i ended up giving it to Ruslan, based on that's what alot of judges like to do.. still, 114-113 for Bradley.

    discuss..

I would give it to the guy who controlled the majority of the round. One or two big shots shouldn't overcome the fact that one guy dominated the majority of the round, unless you are able to score a knockdown.

That's a true judgment call. I tend to use Max Kellerman's "who would you rather be?" model in those cases, and also gave the round to Ruslan.

I tend to give credit more for "effective" than just "aggression."

I can see giving this round to Tim, he did get hurt good near the end of the round but when you control 2/3 of the round and get clipped with a couple shots at the end and are not dropped you shouldnt lose the round.

Tim did great work in the early part of that round hard body shots...

I think everyone ruled round 6 for mini-SNV.

It's one thing to land a big shot, but if that big shot visibly hurts the opponent and got him shook that's another thing. I would give that fighter that landed that effective punch the round. Because it was the more effective shot.

I gave Ruslan the round, however I had Bradley slightly ahead winning the fight.

It depends. If a guy lands some big sweat flying, eye catching shots yet the opponent isn't hurt by them at all then no he shouldn't win the round. However if he has the opponent in serious trouble then he was the one closer to finishing the fight and that should count for something in my opinion.

This is a solid thread. Likely to be pretty split. You should add a poll.

You know what, I did score it for Ruslan, posted here suggesting you could score it for Timmy which you could.

another perfect example of this is Mosley vs Mayweather when Shane cracked the **** out of Mayweather, However other than that one shot leading up to it and just after it Mayweather dominated the round, Though Mosley still won the round with that one shot.

Sweet. I don't really think there's a wrong answer, but I'm always curious about how other people see things.

    "clean effective punching"

What punches were the cleanest and most effective of round 6?

Bradley landed a bunch of clean punches, just didn't hurt Ruslan the same way Ruslan hurt Bradley with the few he landed.

There was a great article scout this I believe on boxing insider a while ago, they believed that the fighter who lands the big shot made the judges give it to the wrong guy, however in Ruslan-Bradley I actually went against what I believe and would have gave it to Ruslan

I think it depends on the severity of the shot. If the opponent is visibly hurt a lot I think it should go to them. If it's one or two big shots but the opponent takes them well I think them controlling the majority of the round will still win it.
