Question about the GGG-Murray fight.

    Having watched Murrays heroic display of courage, and at the risk of being churlish I have to say one concern came to mind as I watched Murray get pounded round after round.
    Apologies in advance!
    Is there a case for saying that when one fighter is taking ridiculous amounts of punishment and/or is too far behind to have any realistic chance to win on points for the ref to go to Murrays corner and say to him "I'm giving you one more round to show me something or I'm stopping the fight.
    I wasn't folowing the scorecards but I would imagine that Murrays situation was fairly hopeless anytime from about the 5th round on. Murray could have been saved a monstrous amount of unnecessary punishment had this been done. He could live to fight another day, minus a pointless career-wrecking beating had this been done.

    In defeat Murray has massively enhanced his reputation. He is the second best MW in the world. I hope he gets another shot at a title.

    I agree the fight should have been stopped after 5 rounds.

    Murray just served as training practice for GGG after that and used up all his punch resistance.

    Most likely will have neurological problems later in life to boot.

    You will see the effects of the sustained beating he took in the next fight that he has.

    Basically from about the 4th round on it was a lost cause for Murray. Just a teas of how much punishment he could take really. It probably should have been stopped, certainly by the half way stage.
    It's more than just a question of losing rounds. Knowing GGG is a brutal puncher and Murrays not a puncher at all, probably the ref should have stepped in.

    Be different if, say, Murray won the first 4 rounds. With him being a non puncher GGG would be at little risk, and GGGs killer punch could bail HIM out, so HE should be allowed to continue, fair enough.
    But knowing what we know about these two it should have been stopped, I feel.

    Golovkinski's amazing (Kovalevski too) but I wanna know how he has such punch resistance...

    I disagree with Murray being the 2nd best Middleweight in the world. Cotto beats Murray.

    Cotto isn't a MW. Murray would be far, far too big for him.

    Stupid thing to say Cotto is not a Middleweight he has a world title at Middleweight :patsch

    The scorecards were being announced during the fight so Murray and Oliver knew how far they wete behind. It was a fight where Murray should have been pulled out either by the corner or Doctor. Glad the ref stopped the fight when Murray head snapped back u dont want many of those

    No it isn't. They took on a shot to pieces Sergio Martinez and have blatantly ducked all talk of facing GGG in order to potentially set up a fight with a LMW in Canelo.

    Cotto would get destroyed by GGG; I mean he weighed 155 for the Martinez fight. He is clearly not a proper MW.

    No question about it, Murray should have been pulled out by his corner well before the 11th round. He was just a punching bag for most of the fight, taking unnecessary punishment when it was obvious to every man and his dog he was never going to win the fight. Massive credit to him though, he lasted far longer than many (me included) thought he would; though you've got to wonder what this has taken out of him.

    I have to admit he does seem to be like a machine reminds me of Ivan Drago, Murray's punches just bounced off him.

    Saying that he looks very easy to hit, he just walks forward constantly stalking I dont see many other stronger middleweights than Murray so there is something freakish or suspect about GGG.

    He is easy to hit because he's happy to take a shot in order to give a shot.

    As Macklin was saying on Ringside, Murray punches when close up and the power in those shots aren't anywhere near enough to disturb Golovkin.

    It's not like he was landing bombs.

    Totally uncalled for.
    There is nothing suspect about being able to take Murrays punches.
    Murray, for all his bulk was NEVER a massive puncher, not even a decent puncher. That's precisely why he was never going to score a dramatic come-from- behind ko, which was my original point all along regarding stopping the fight!

    Murrays a very nice lad i like him a lot but for his size and frame there just no real power there for some reason , he got completely destroyed by GGG the odd flury of punches back but tickled GGG and then continually held on for dear life , it was a landslide beatdown imo , the tag gutsy and warrior doesnt cut it on that display he simply lasted longer than the rest but sustained the same controlled beatdown by the best guy about and now p4p king
