He's easy to hit cos he just walks forward without a tight guard, I thought Murray outboxed him a number of times but couldnt do it for long enough in each round.

GGG seemed to cut the ring down very well and forced Murray to fight the entire round, the ring did seem very small (I know they mentioned that).

To beat GGG imo you need to be able to box and move or have enough power to have him think about constantly walking forward but dont think any middleweight has this.

Hmmm I don't think you can make it a rule though that if a non puncher is behind on the scorecards and can no longer win on points that they stop the fight. Fighters with no power have scored shock knockouts before, or the non puncher could open up a massive cut on his opponent. Not fair to treat a fighter differently just because he doesn't have renowned power.

I do get where you're coming from though Len.

Fans bemoan the lack of exciting, come-forward bangers in the sport in the midst of mind-numbing clutch merchants like Klitschko and Ward. A guy comes along who guarantees excitement every single time. Fans shout ''STEROIDS!'' Strange, moaning lot certain 'fans' of boxing are.

Even boxer/movers are gonna find themselves on the ropes against golvokin eventually. Your gonna either have to outstrength him and push him back which i think the 168 lbs may be able to do. or gonna need the full repoitoire boxer/mover/puncher/speed which theyre arent too many around. He's probably the best around at closing the gap/cutting the ring off today. Dont think there's any foul play involved but dont blame people for suspecting it. Guy looks super human in their at times. For someone that looks like a choirboy he's a vicious little *******.

I did think after the eighth that the corner should pull him out. He'd had a real go, was getting nowhere, I think his pride would have been intact. Never mind

I don't think it was as bad as when the other Murray, John, fought Brandon Rios. Facking hell. Letting that fight go after the seventh or so was disgusting.

The fact Murray could barely remember anything in the post match interview, tells you that the fight should have been stopped waaaaaaaaay earlier, but all his corner could see were the $ signs.

I agree about it not being made a hard and fast rule, LRR.

Sturm lost the first 4-6 rounds against Macklin but went on to Nick it (I know, I know!!!)...but Sturm was not in immediate serious physical danger, as was Murray.

Another recent example...Andy Lee lost all 5 completed rounds on 2 of the cards against Korobov, but again in this case there were extenuating circumstances, as Andy is known to have the "equaliser" right hook, unlike Murray.

Discretion could have been used I reckon.

I mean let's be honest here- after about 4-5 rounds what was Murray hoping would happen? That GGG would choke on his gum shield? Break his hand? Suffer a horrendous cut? Cos that's what we are talking about ...a guy taking appalling punishment and relying on sheer luck to provide him with a miracle.
