The Klitschko brothers were born and brought up in Kazakhstan, right?

Was their father of Ukrainian ethnicity?

    Wasn't their mother Russian?

(Why do the Klitschkos identify so strongly with the Ukraine?):good

Dad was in the army, so they moved around a lot, they didn't grow up in Kazakhstan, in fact, Vitali was born in that boxing hotbed of Kyrgyzstan

I thought both their parents were Russian? :huh

But since the father was in the military they grew up in Ukraine for the most part.

So their mother has no Russian ethnicity at all? She is Ukrainian with some Jewish influences?

In the Sovjetunion the children got the nationality of the father. It wasn´t important where the children where born.

The mother of the Klitschkos are Russian.
Father Ukrainian, so they become they are Ukrainians. It did not matter in which part ot the Sovjetunion someone was born.

Mother Ukrainian, father Russian, so they would be Russians.
    Just simple.

I do not know if the Klitschko father had a Russian mother, maybe. But in the Sovjetunion Russian was the language and the father was a in the army.
