Question about the NBA ( national boxing association 1921-1962 )

    Did this organization BECOME the WBA or did it simply dissolve and the WBA took over ? Or was it something else entirely? In all the years I’ve followed the sport I never even thought about it.

    They changed the name to WBA to A)assert dominance and B)to avoid confusion with the growing basketball league.

    When the NBA made the switch to WBA none of the major alphabet bodies claimed to be "World" organizatons. They were all regional in nature. To simplify the WBA is the NBA and the WBC is everyone else from back then joining forces.

    Kind of like how pro wrestling had regional territories but many also had a "world" champion.
