jake started as a light heavy and worked himself down to middle. my question is is that he beat a lot of the black murderers row and many other tough light heavies so would he have ever gotten a shot at the light heavy belt and if so who would he have fought and would he have won the title?if he won how long would he have held it for ? im talking bout a prime jake lamotta at light heavy.

Not sure, would the champ have been Gus Lesnevich around that time? I'd give Lamotta a good chance against him, Joey Maxim would be a cagey affair, butnot beyond Jake imo.

A lot of former middleweights excelled in the lightheavyweight division or were at least able to be competitve there. I think other than the Billy Conn day and Archie Moore, even Bob Foster and Spinks...middleweights like Jose Torres and Dick Tiger were able to compete...Jake was a solid Lightheavy and would have been good enough to get a title but the middleweights were the toughest division for years
