just curious if anyone thinks anything is fishy bout this bout? wolcott got up awfully quick right at/after 10 and didnt look hut at all. any chance of a fix? thier first fight was a war and in their second the rock didnt seem to hit him with that much power to warrent a ko. especially for joe to jump up like he did at 10 or just a second after 10. any thoughts?
I think Walcott realized after he was knocked down that he didn't want to go through another war with Marciano. I'm not saying he quit. It was more of a subconcious decision. That uppercut made Joe realize that maybe he was getting a little too old for this stuff anyway. Once he was counted out he then played to the crowd as if he was robbed but he knew deep down what was up. He just didn't have it in him anymore. The knockout from thier first fight left a deep and lasting impression. That KO can stay with a man for a long time after.
He just lost the count, an inherent risk when one chooses to try taking the benefit of an eight or nine second rest.
Agreed......... Had I been ref, I'd wiped off Walcott's gloves and motioned for Marciano to came back and fight......... That 10 count stoppage was freaking bull****......... BUT! Marciano was more than likely gonna halt Walcott any way....... By '53, Joe Walcott was merely cashing in his chips........ :hat MR.BILL
