I read in the most recent Ring magazine article that Adamek said there was nothing there for him at cruiserweight(obviously, he'd fight Cunningham again but stupid TV didn't want it), he even said something along the lines of "what was I suppose to do? Fight Cunningham 7 or 8 times?" My question is why wouldn't he take a fight with Krzysztof Wlodarcyk? I bet that could have been a big fight in Poland or New Jersey? Obviously he's making more money at heavyweight now, but while he was still in the Cruiserweight division was this fight even discussed?
Wlodarczyk had scheduled fight for WBC with Fragomeni. If he had won then the fight would have have some sense. The result was a draw. I aint sure, but Wlodarczyk's managers werent interested at this fight (Adamek) at all.
If his campaign at HW comes to an end, this might be a possibility, although a rematch with Cunningham is a stronger one.Don't forget Adamek-USS was a FOTY type fight and Diablo lost to Cuni, probably in both fights. So far, Adamek going hard in the other direction and is doing well.
Thanks for the info. That's too bad that they weren't interested the fight would have made a lot of sense.
That would be a step down for Adamek. Wlodarcyzk couldn't hold Adameks jock strap (no disrespect to Diablo). Thats the true & end of story.
It would be a step down in some respects, but certainly a huge step up from Bobby Gunn(I assume that was somehow a mandatory?)
Most HW's of this era look fat and outta shape. Adamek is a breath of fresh air. Adamek vs. Haye in belin would be a huge fight. guys both movied up from cruiser and appear evenly matched. The best part is all the $$ and attention to a new, young exciting generation of HW's......instead of the recent cookie cutter HW fights....a fat ass vs. a KLit
