Tbh the pre fight build up wasn't exactly thrilling was it. I mean sending a dead pigeon is hardly gonna get fans chomping at bit to see Burns vs Layrea. I'm glad the Scottish public didn't fall for such a disgraceful fight. Evensen was bad enough but was a ok bout only months after the war with Martinez but then np excuses for Layrea.

Exactly mand, i still havent recieved my answer for who burns beats and who he is likely to fight. Broner has a better last 2 fights and isnt even a belt holder, says it all really when you compare De leon/Litzau being beaten by a 'contender' ans Evensen/Laryea being beaten by a 'champ'. Im just sitting here laughing to be honest, no ****er in the right mind can justify that :)

Burns is in a tricky position with regards to unifying the division, especially after Fana vacated. Uchiyama and Aoh won't want to know (due to Japan not recognising the WBO and Burns not being a big name) and Mendez is, I believe, facing Salgado for the vacant IBF title in July. So as of right now, Burns can only realistically aim for the IBF title at the end of the year (Mendez could easily be brought over if he becomes the champion).

I think people would just be happy for him to face a fringe contender next after the Cook fight. People say super featherweight is a poor division, but there's plenty of legitimate opponents out there for Burns. Sadly Burns hasn't fought one since Martinez.

Thinking of it, I am still convinced frank pulled some strings to get the fight and thought '**** it' if he wins we are laughing, if he loses then back to the domestic scene. he sold a tonne of tickets and he was happy. Burns comes up trumps (fair play to him for doing so too!) and since proceeds to fight 3 gimme's in a row with now elite-level showdown on the horizon, what an absolute joke!

Exactly, to be honest mate I dont have anything against Burns or Billy. I wish them all the best I really do. Its just I hate bullshitters and hypocrites and unfortunately Billy is fitting that profile more and more as he criticises Lee McAlistairs choics of opponent and lines up body after body! Im not asking him to go on a Froch type line-up, im just asking for a genuine challenge. Heck even choose our very own domestic king-pins if need be cos they will give more of a fight and more deserving of a chance then Cook is.

Buckland would absolutely ****ing brutalise Cook, I honestly believe the ko would be as viscious as Ahmed v Sexton. Does he get a crack-----nope, Cook does instead! why, cos sniffing coke and being ko'd by a the guy Burns beat somehow qualifies you to becoming a viable challenger (WBO of course). Its fights like this anger me, I feel like Billy is kicking me in the bollocks and asking me how it feels when he defends this ****...

Yep it's amazing how contenders are having more world class fights then Ricky. When they was talking up Litzau before he had his lights well and truly turned off by Broner. They mentioned his last two wins and tbh it shows Ricky's level of opposition up.

It doesn't show great faith in Ricky IMO from Wa

    :good

Now you can see why i have got the opinion that Frank put Burns in as '**** it' fight where he cashed in the chips----but won!

Litzau beat Caballero who was p4p for christ sakes, Gamboa + Juanma didnt want a piece of him yet Litzau did and won, the Broner upsets the party and all this without a trinket at stake, just a wbc contention place of some sort. Burns is a champ, wbo but still s champ technically and yet his fights have been of alot lower class. Its crazy to think that he gets away with it time after time again

Your clearly on a rant mate and not listening or should i say reading what im telling you,for me you know little about pro boxing and i dont mean that as being cheeky, ultimately promoters decide who we fight,we have asked for bigger names and it will happen soon.
If Gary Buckland fought Ricky like he fougfht last night Ricky would smash him to bits,Gary is nowhere near Rickys level and never will be imo.

The Ring magazine, and HBO do not recognise the WBO as a legit title.

Hence why the Ring left WBO champs off there list.

Burns Fana for the Ring Belt :good

Yep, plus he is getting overtaken by other fighters in the division as he has these fights. I think most would agree that he was in the top 2 at super featherweight after the Martinez fight, but two successful title defences and nine months later...he is struggling to stay in the top 5! Burns is standing still, while the rest of the division is moving on.

I think it's sad when you or i chuck a name out and people would reply ''But Frank wouldn't put him in with him'' ''Nah that be to dangerous'' etc etc.

Chuck him in with Choi i say :)

You also need to rememeber that other boxers might not want to fight for the WBO and will have there own agenda. If Ricky were told hes to fight any of the bigger names he would treat it the same as hius previous opponents and plan to beat them

But Billy nor is Evensen or Layrea on Ricky's level?

Tbh Buckland would beat both of them guys IMO and at least if he fought Ricky he'd bring some support and also fact it be a all celtic clash would spice it up more. More positives then negatives facing Buckland then the other two guys.

The old saying goes that when you either raise your voice or get personal with attacks then you obviously have lost the debate. For you to say I know nothing/very little about pro bozing shows your capacity! terrible attitude there billy!

Its a rant about being ****ing fair, fight someoen with a pulse that deserves to be there not a picked opponent. As for promoters, why dont you do what Khan did then and create Burns promotions and make a legacy fighting top-calibre opponents if Frank is so bad in that regard?

You and Burns are epitomising everything that is wrongf with boxing today, to many paper champs fighting cherries and not defending against prime opposition. I hope that you (a pillar of the scottish boxing community) can hodl your head high knowing you are dodging/ducking/weaving tough fights now that you have the wbo trinket.

So much for a rant that every single poster on the board bar no-mas/dunky agree, top work again billy :good I look forward to watching Burns in a one-sided fight yet again, enthralling as always:good

As always all the best (cos i at least have dignity)...
