not for the show...just for here.. whats your opinion on holyfield getting ranked all of a sudden so he can get a shot at a world title??...and also, recently, we have heard the same could happen with wayne mccullough at batamweight... is there an explaination for this that you could enlighten me on ? .
the explanation is simple..................money. if you have a question for bunce PM the guy or email setanta. his knowledge and opinion of the game counts for no more than any of us on this forum.
This is nothing new. Both McCullough and Holyfield have name value, and are therefore continually recycled for championship fights over guys who are more capable; basically because they will make everyone involved more money (the promoters, the champions etc.)
yes...but..being ranked all of a sudden so they can have a shot at a title..it makes it hard to defend the sport when **** like that can go on
or less.. hence making it ok to ask him here surely...same as i'd ask any other member something.. would you object if i had put... "d-mac...whats your view on holyfield getting a title shot?"..would you have also told me to pm d-mac ??..
None of us (the real fans) are happy about it, but there is nothing we can do; the alphabet gang are all into it. Lets admit it; the majority of a live crowd/TV audience are not made up of the hard-core fans like you, me and the vast majority of everyone else on this forum. We all know that Hasegawa v Mijares, Moreno, Agbeko or Sidorenko are competitive match-ups, but give Joe Public the choice, JP being the guys and dolls who make up the majority of the audience, and they will choose Hasegawa v McCullough over watching all those fights above taking place in the one night. It is ****ed up. Also bear this in mind, Vlad Klitschko and Sultan Ibragimov made a lot more money for themselves in their snore-fest of a fight than Israel Vasquez and Rafael Marquez did in their third classic contest; Joe Public likes name recognition and big men getting KO'd, and are not interested in the intricate skill on display in the lower weight classes. Basically they have no idea about the sport they are casually following.
its not so much they dont deserve a shot that worrys me most it is their health how can you put a 200 odd lbs, 46 year old man, who has boxed for years and slurs his words in the ring with a 7 foot giant who weighs 22 stone and is a beast i know valuev isnt much of a puncher for his size but that weight is going to hurt evander
I'm glad you've highlighted this - which is far more than the press seem to do. I find it strange that they're content to turn a blind eye to this.
if you had started a thread saying "whats everyones view on holyfeld getting a title shot" that would be fine. bunce, d mac, you, myself, even flint island.........our views and opions counts the same.
Yep, theres a few of these "Question for Bunce" threads that could just as well be open questions? Fair play if the question is "Where do you buy your suits Buncey?", but otherwise.....
of course...but i was interested in bunces opinion as part of the boxing media, what his view is on it..and asked here as i'm sure others would be interested in his opinion too... but of course you are correct to...others opinions counts the same..
My reply in print, on TV, on radio or on a forum is the same: Business. Simple. Not always right but always predictable. Remember the D.King maxim: "You don't always get what you deserve - you get what you negotiate." Holyfield and his reputation/legacy has negotiated well. By the way Thursday's show will be stunning. Adios.
It's not over for Danny Williams, he still has one of the most credited belts out there.. The British Title..
