    Yes I know but we have loads of 3 fight shows all over the place where these guys tick over. Journeymen are fighting all the time unless injured or the fight has fallen through for them.

    The "Mexican roadsweepers" became popular in the 80s and generally wern't much better or much worse than the current imports from Africa and Eastern Europe.

    The "generation" before was better, fighters would fight domestic class, then a few Europeans then the promoter would start getting some Yanks over to try and gauge where his prospect really stood.

    A lot of the time they'd ship a few over from from the same stable and there'd be 2 or 3 Brit fighters up against Yank journeymen who mostly knew their way around a ring. You'd see the odd upset when the promoter/ match maker didn't realize just how good the import was(Mark Kaylor getting flattened by future world champion Buster Drayton springs to mind).

    I've got Frank Maloney's book and in it he tells a tale about how he was matchmaking for Mickey Duff and he was instructed to find an opponent for him.

    Anyways, at the same time, he managed a fighter who was at the same weight, so he chucked them in together and the house fighter was beaten...... not long after he was fired :lol:

    Frank Bruno fought a lot of them, by his own admission. I think one of them was called Chuck Gardner, lasted about ten seconds before going over...... Frank Warren was quoted as saying ''Chuck Gardner.... he wouldn't beat My Gardner'' - the other two funny tales were of a fighter with a 17-3 record, Frank said to the guy that he didn't want to know how bad the opponents he beat were..... and the other that had allegedly beaten Mike Tyson in the amateurs :lol:
