Prior to the fight with Joe Calzaghe, American TV network HBO offered Mikkel a very good contract. Team Kessler refused the offer and put all their eggs in one basket saying that once Mikkel beats Joe, his stock will rise and the offer will be substantially higher.

Obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, this was a mistake. Have they had any further offers or signed anything since?

He'll be fine... It was the type of defeat that I believe he will learn a great deal from.

I just wish him the best, he is a class act, hell dominate 168 if he stays there, or should do anyway, but I reckon he could do well at 175 also

I'm encouraged that Kessler has turned down Warren and Sauerland - good decisions. It's a massive crossroads for Mikkel currently, these are big decisions to make regarding a new promoter. I wish him good luck, he clearly wants to fight the best available options each time.

What about the chatter re: Kessler v. Froch if Joe Calzaghe vacates the belts?

The problem is, that Kessler is not in a position where he can choose a new promoter of his choice... His only hope of getting a new manager is if Team Palle sell their option on him, which means that they would retire their buisness. Not a likely scenario!

GBP are not exacty short of money.. they could buy him out of his contract. I'm sure Palle will let him go with a nice golden handshake.

Kessler is #2 with the WBO. As soon as Joe vacates this title, Kessler could fight for that title (Joe's title, wich would be very symbolic).

But actually, I think his stock is still sky high as almost everyone agrees that once Joes leave 168, Kessler will be the man to beat.

The problem is that the Pro. boxing scene in Denmark is KESSLER at the moment. So a golden handshake would be the end of Team Palle.

But Palle is old and with a bad health and now has been accepted in the HOF, and nobody really thinks his daughter Bettina Palle is capable of making it big in the buisness. So maybe it is the time to move on.

At the end of the day, as nice a guy as Kessler is, he needs to look out for his own future. Mogens Palle getting sick, going in and out of hospital is chaos for Kessler during negotiations or in the build up to fights. Kessler can't let sympathy get in the way of that. Palle is sick, old and soon will be dead by the sounds of it. It is definately time to move on.

Yeah but he is legally bounded by a contract to Team Palle. So this is not Kesslers decision to make!

ButaboutBute - In BM Froch said he would prefer to fight Kessler for the vacant WBC. He said "That's the one that would show I'm the best". Plus I have heard mentions of it in this other forum I visit. Just wondering is all...

I really, really hope that what ever he does it is made available to US TV so I can watch him do his thing, not have to follow his future career on internet clips.
