We are all aware that the title fight should be fought at 160 but would you be OK with a Canelo vs Golovkin clash @ 155 WITHOUT the title on the line?

Also, if Golovkin is his mandatory and MUST fight at 160 if it is enforced, why even bother negotiating if it'll swing in Golovkin's favor anyway?

If it wasn't for the Middleweight title, and they decided to have a non title CW in the future, I'd be all for it.
But not for the MW title, and certainly not trying to force the mandatory

Not really. I really dont like what GBP and Alverez are doing, i have no problem with Alverez being 155 but for that belt he shouldnt try get his opponents to have to go to that weight too. So i want that belt taken away from him.

Fighting at 160 for the MW title is the right thing to do as Canelo is the 160 champion and GGG is his mandatory. They are also the two best 160 fighters and they both weigh similar weights on fight night so we would get a great fight consisting of the two best MWs who are actual MWs.

If that doesn't happen then fighting at 155 in a non title fight is acceptable, but not as good as the above option. Canelo and GBP deliberately weakening a fighter to get an unfair advantage should sicken any true fan of the sport. I hate it when any fighter does it. It is a disgrace to the past real warriors of the sport and it goes against what boxing and sport should be about.

If the fight is at 155 and Canelo wins, it will be a tainted victory like any other CW win.

What was your view of the Floyd vs Canelo 152-lb catchweight? After all, that was for the Jr MW title. (both guys held belts and it was a unification fight)

Based upon your view that title fights should be contested at the full weight limit (which I agree with), you must have been outraged by what Floyd did there with that ridiculous 152-lb catchweight for a Jr MW title fight?

Does every thread have to turn into a Mayweather thread?

No. All these posters have to do is hold Floyd to the same standard they are holding Canelo to. Wasn’t it Floyd who started this stuff anyway!

Actually, no. Others have as well, keep it Golovkin-Canelo.

Well, I don't like catchweights period so I wouldn't be "alright" with it but I realise this is a more of a personal opinion so I wouldn' really complain about it either if that's what they decided.

Look, you can’t close your eyes to the past if you are to understand the present. The Floyd - Canelo catchweight is DIRECTLY related to what is happening here.

OK then similarly, if Floyd is not ready to defend the JR MW titles, by that same logic, Floyd should have vacated those titles in 2014. Floyd has held the WBA and WBC 154-lb titles for nearly 3 years without ever defending them. Where’s Floyd’s 154-lb mandatory?

Sorry, new comer. when it's your mando there aren't any shots to call. If ggg enforces (which he will) the mando challenge, the only thing canelo could do is offer him huge money to fight at a CATCH weight.

If that doesn't happen, it's goes to purse bid and it's 75/25 split at 160
