I was watching the 2002 De La Hoya - Vargas fight the other night and I noticed at one point in between rounds, De La Hoya blew his nose twice to get the blood out. The announcers said he broke the cardinal rule as you are never supposed to blow your nose during a fight. Why exactly is this?
I believe this is because it causes swelling around the nose and eyes. Why exactly it does that, I do not know, but I believe this is why you aren't supposed to do it.
i box and my trainers have always told me if you blow your noes during a fight there is a great chance your eyes will swell up and that will obviously mess with your vision. thats why trainers use cotton buds on the inside of the noes. in other words if you have a small mouse under your eye and you blow your noes it is very likey the mouse will grow.
I think you can bust a blood vessel or something...Can't exactly remember. First time I got my nose busted it was by my trainer, and blood everywhere. Went to the bathroom, and I blew it. Came back, and I showed him my nose was busted...First thing he said "DO NOT BLOW YOUR NOSE!!!" Even b4 he said "Sorry" LOL Pretty sure he said I could bust something. I was about so freaked that I blew it before he said not to that I didn't even pay close attention to what he said.
