Started Boxing at ten. I was Boxing long before I had an understanding of the professional game.

My family was never keen on me fighting. My parents never saw me Box, I did it alone. Went to the gym and took what the coach was telling me as law, no questions asked.

Guy never even made us wrap our hands to train. I've seen coaches sit and wrap kids hands for them, because it has to be done properly. Even now, I can wrap someone elses hands better than I can my own.

Anyways, I'm Boxing; and I'm getting older. I get to fifteen and I get my first serious girlfriend. That was a ride from hell  (seemed like it at the time) and instead of dealing with things properly, I lash out and hit things. Walls, trees, stupid stuff. Things that can't hit back. I bust my hands, break bones, knuckles etc. I'm still Boxing regularly, but with hands that never get the chance to heal, so the injury grows and grows. One day I'm fighting, and I punch someone's hip, breaking my hand. Since then I can't even do rounds on a heavy bag, my hand swells up, and the other one is hardly in better shape.

It's either train fighters, or sit and watch as a fan.

Nothing to do with your coach. More like stupidity on your part - not trying to be a dick but surely punching walls/trees ****ed your hands and not shoddy wrapping....

    I'm saying it contributed.

I was fifteen, it was a part of growing up I guess.

no matter how hard u try its impossible to beat a wall or tree (Victor Ortiz types aside) in a fist fight...

I did similar to you got the sh*ts and punched wall. I'd done it before and only knocked skin off my knuckles nothing at all to worry bout but as it almost always does i ended up hittin it bit to hard and broke my left hand.
Thankfully though I had the sense in my rage to go straight to the hospital once i'd done it and they set it in a cast till i had it operated on a couple days later. was told i would need 6 weeks for it to heal properly but i made sure i didnt do anything strenuous on it except the excersizes the physio told me to do for about 4 months. my hand is a strong as it ever was now.

but i alyways ALWAYS make sure i wrap my hands before doin any kinda work on the bag or anything like that definately dont want to risk breaking it again!!
