Fantastic post. I was suggested this to sort out a problem I had with throwing my cross and it worked very very well.
The best way to make your jab faster is by practicing it. Shadowboxing and using the heavy bag are best for perfecting technique.
where do you get your info from? i see this way too often. lifting heavyweights for low reps will build less muscle mass then say 8-15 rep range. thats why you see powerlifters who can lift the same as a pro bodybuilder, yet are half their size. they train for strength, not bulk. being strong doesnt make you slow
no no, i never mentioned being strong making u slower, if you get ur arms used to punching with 2KG weights and hit fast with them for lets say 1 minute of the round and then you let them off your handspeed will increase, if you keep on doing your handspeed does increase munch more than lifting heavyweights, i get these answers from people from our gym.
sounded to me like thats what you were getting at. just thought i would correct you. ive never lifted weights for speed. ive lifted to improve power
I think we should get have juxhin tell us once a week in a thread why one of these statements is funny/wrong. He can do like all of them at once or work ahead as long as he gets one a week and gets through all of them. Min. three sources per thread. Answers can support his original argument or another more correct viewpoint. Or ban his dumb ass lol. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTFwAxfHgSA[/ame]
Its funny how you act so smart behind a screen my friend (-: everything i answer and say is based on what i read and see what people do in the gym, ive seen results. Ban my dumbass? Well sorry but i dont see you showing up any useful information regarding the subject, people like you who simply think theyre funny cause they can post and talk ****, i was decent enough to even put a video to show you why shadowboxing is good especially when done with light weights as it increases handspeed, you should be banned for wasting your time cause kid i surely aint wasting a week just for your shitty ass sense of humor ur just as ****in ******ed as ur goddam avatar. Im sorry i never said i was a perfect boxer and im sure not everything i say is not perfect either but i try my best, if you think your cool for picking on a 15 year old over the internet goodjob. You should be awarded CyberWarrior of the year
Go cry about it then child. There's other 15yr olds on here that contribute valuable information, you're just talking nonsense you heard in the gym and found on youtube. And there's a thread about this topic every couple months. There was one recently with some good stuf.
phaha, sorry mate but not everything i go saying to help people is bs. Obviously i learn what i learn from other people u idiot, where do you want to learn about boxing?? Reading books lmao? Goodjob, keep on sayin pointless posts all day long and wasting time. Ignored ****.
Its feel there thats tricking the ''practitioners'' into believing it makes them faster, it feels faster after you put the weights down, because it is faster.. you havent got big weights in your hands anymore, lol. Try incorporating some more innovative but still time tested strength building principles into somthing boxing specific and then you'll maybe have our attention, however building in speed isnt quite as simple as building your strength, technique is very important when it comes to speed, when technique comes so does the strength, speed and mobility, brute strength alone doesnt necessarily mean mobility, not at all, it doesnt necessarily mean strength in the ring either. Infact, in the interest of just throwing some thoughts around i believe until you have got technique down pretty darn well, then there is probably very little to be gained or close to nothing in looking at your strength in an attempt to build up speed, like a 1 step forward 2 steps back pattern going on, it seems to me the gains would be small in terms of both physical speed and power, even though some may disagree with me on the latter, id be interested to see what others think about that. basically i think time could be much better spent boxing rather than weights when starting out, development would be a lot quicker and more consistent if you ask me. The only way i would use small weights like this is without strikes or movement to avoid tainting form. a stamina builder for the shoulders/guard, interesting topic but its been done to death on the boxing forums.
yes, and i doubt it will ever end. ive never heard of anyone lifting heavy weights to gain speed which is what confused me so much about the topic in the first place
I think you are a bit wrong here. When you are moving etc... yes, you should be relaxed. When you fire that punch your arm should NEVER lock out and should be rigid (tense) by the time you finish the punch and your core will be tensed too driving all of your weight into the guys face. There is really no way to be "relaxed" AND punching. It is a crisp tense motion.
