Having thought Collazo won the match betweem him and Berto when I watched it live, I re-watched it and came out with Berto by 2 (him having won rnds. 11and 12). I felt one round (dont remember exactly which round, 5,6 or 7) in which I thought it could have gone either way. I scored it 10/10. I dont remember ever seeing a 10/10 tied round in any boxing match. Ive heard its possible. Why dont we see more of this since theres people always saying "it could have gone either way"? Why dont they just score it a 10/10 round? Then I thought what constitutes a 10/8 round besides a knockdown? How bad of a beating does a guy have to take?:bbb
Everybody scores as they wish,it's better if you don't score even rounds so you can pick a winner more clearly. In recent years the WBA for example has banned the even scoring of a round.
Watch Bowe- Golota. A lot of them rounds be 10-8 rounds.....but some weren't mostly due to the fouls Golota was making and point deductions. I do 10-10 rounds. I don't see why not. If I feel neither boxer edged it, ill even the round up in points.
I only score 10/8 for a round when a fighter gets knocked down or completely dominated... meaning he didn't do a single thing of note in the round. I rarely ever score 10/10 and neither do most judges. People tend to think it reflects indecisiveness
I don't have a problem with scoring rounds 10-8 or 10-10. If there is no way to split the fighters, then by all means award it 10-10. OK, you don't want silly scorecards like 118-117..... There should be more 10-8 rounds. Collazo vs Hatton Rd.12 was a 10-8 in anybody's book.... just because there wasn't a knockdown doesn't mean that one guy wasn't owning the other. Furthermore, with a KD, I don't see a problem with scoring 9-9, if the guy that gets decked is winning the round.
My question is... how would you score a round with 2 knockdowns? Officially it should be 10-7 right?.. but some judges leave it at 10-8.. Then we also have rare instances when a fighter gets knocked down 3 times in a round. Like Pac vs JMM I in round 1... would you score that round 10-6 for Pac?
I havn't seen many 10/10 rounds and i don't think there are enough. There are so many rounds that are hard to call.By scoring 10/10 rounds early in the fight then the decision would be left to the championship rounds which IMO makes most sense.
Too many in SOME FIGHTS, not in general. Some judges have scored 5 or 6 rounds of a 12 round fight even, off the top of my head Leonard-Duran I was a case in point although there are others. If rounds are close, then fine, score a 10/10 but how many 12 round fights have 5 or 6 rounds that close?
