Pac will again fight his heart out, but I believe Martinez is too big with enough speed to beat Pac. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a pretty one sided victory for Martinez actually. Pac has no business fighting Martinez, or Williams, in my opinion. If he does pull off the victory though, I say he would have to be considered as a top 10 ATG.

You're comparing cotto, clottey and margarito to a guy who is the middleweight champion and #1 or #2 at 154lbs? Margarito isn't even in the top 10 at 154lbs. Martinez is the fastest fighter at 154lbs or 160lbs he is close to Pacquiao's speed, it's not all about speed it's about reflexes timing and footwork, Martinez is superb in all those categories. Martinez knocked down Paul Williams for the first time in his career because he came in reckless with horrible defense just like Pacquiao does all the time, Cotto, Margarito and Clottey are not the caliber of Sergio Martinez I'm sorry, none of those fighters have the footwork, hand speed or boxing abliity to make Pacquiao pay for his recklessness.

First off I was going on the basis that the fight take place at 154 so whether Martinez is MW champ or not is irrelevant. As we know, Margarito destroyed Cintron and fought to a very tough, somewhat controversial loss with Paul Williams. Martinez lost to PW and drew with Cintron. Cotto beat Clottey in a very close fight and Clottey also gave Margo a very tough fight. Which is why I put them all around the same level. Besides, Cotto is now a JMW himself and so is Margo.

Fair enough, A>B>C doesnt mean A>C BUT what we can take from these fights is that, all those guys, fought competively with each other. Pac fights 3 of those guys and ANIHILATES them. There is a pattern here, he is a league above.

Pac does not have horrible defense, stop that nonsense. Pac himself said in the press conference and interview, he chose to trade with Margo on occasions cos he wanted an exciting fight. There were rounds in the fight when he chose to use footwork and his skills, Margo couldnt bloody touch him...but that would be a boring 1 sided potshotting victory.

And BTW, the fastest fighter at 154lb isnt anywhere near as fast as Pac, end of. Pac is the fastest at 154(150), 147, 140, 135, 130. The guy has FW speed at LMW.

Pac will stay on the outside, disadvantaged by Martinez reach but look for him to slip the punches and get hits 3-4 punch combination and then get out again. Like I said, tough fight because of Martinez size and reach but when you have 2 fighters of the same style going up against each other, the better skilled fighter usually wins. Pac has better speed, better footwork, faster hands, better combinations.

The fact is Pacquiao has obvious holes in his defense and the fact is he can be out boxed. Sergio Martinez has all the tools to complete the task. Cotto, Clottey and Margarito are all the same level and do not posses the boxing skills needed to defeat Pacquiao tell me something I don't know. Keep in Mind Martinez started boxing at a late age and is still improving with each fight.

It's true, Sergio Martinez is a bigger fighter than Manny Pacquiao, but that isn't the only factor to consider. He has great hand speed for a Middleweight, and has just demonstrated one punch knockout power against a top level operator in the prime of his career. It was a chilling spectacle, seeing a fighter of Williams quality get taken out like that, as easily as that. Williams isn't a defensive marvel, but neither is Manny Pacquiao, and for all of his offensive work, I think Martinez has all of the capabilities, the intelligence, to be able to land on Manny at a fairly consistent rate.

Margarito is heavy handed but he's never had snap behind his punches. He has to set himself to be able to do damage, and Pacquiao never allowed him to do that. Martinez is a completely different story altogether. He can punch going backwards, being a natural counter-puncher, and I'm skeptical whether or not the Filipino could take the sort of left hands we saw in only two rounds of action on Saturday Night.

I don't want to see Martinez potentially drain himself just to make the fight happen, and I would not criticize Manny Pacquiao for not fighting at 154lbs. Sergio would be a handful for the Super Middleweights, never mind the Welterweights.

Martinez all the way. He's not gonna be standing there for Pac to hit at will like DLH/Hatton/Cotto/Clottey/Margarito. He can keep out of Pac's range and he can cut the ring at will unlike the aforementioned names. He also packs a good punch, again unlike the aforementioned names. Too much skill for the Pac Man to handle.

And Martinez-Williams was at a catchweight. Martinez is not a big middleweight by all means, this isn't Hopkins we're talking about here.

When it first was announced this fight (for a middleweight belt) was fought at a catchweight it was initially baulked at, but you know it was agreed in part so that each fighter could still have an option of going back down to jr middle for a showdown with Pac or May. Whether or not it happens I don't know.

Martinez's marketing stock just went up, but I don't see this happening unless Roach asks him to come back down to welterweight.
