    thanks for the answers :thumbsup

on 3 you totaly right, didnt come to my mind, but obviously floyd is no ceo of either an tv, cable or internet enterprise to logicly he doesnt get all the money, yet he acts like he would get 100 % and says it publicly which is funny, because if the case was true he would be already richer than Tiger Woods :smoke

Exactly. . . Lol people think Mayweather really "keeps 100%" of his purse. . . LOL. . Golden Boy is the one putting up the capital to promote the fights. . . You think they're doing that for free? Then Al Haymon is getting at least 10% of his purse. . . Haymon ain't cheap. . .

Back when Mayweather came back to fight Marquez, he was broke, and Oscar had to put up 100% of the capital. . . Now that Mayweather's got some bank again, he's probably putting up some of the risk as well to maximize returns. . But he's STILL not keeping close to 100% of his purse. . .

Unless you have connections, and time to spend outside of training (like, a lot of time), you need a promotor. . . Not to mention the contracts, and all the other complex nuances of arranging a fight. . . You gotta set up everything: From the paper the tickets are printed out on, to the hotdogs, and sodas sold in the concessions. . .

    and 10% would be ridiculous.

Haymon is a businessman who is in this business to make money.

Mayweather. Mayweathers is covering all the expenses if the fight doesnt happen the expenses of promoting the fight come out of his own money.

if that is the case, which i doubt, there is really no such thing as a guaranteed purse for floyd then. those pre-fight figures being thrown around as his guaranteed purse are just estimates.

    very good points.

most fans think it is just someone getting out there, talking some trash, hypes a fight and than it is done and he gets it all. in every business a lot of people wanna have a part of the pie.

what I would like to know is, what does al haymon exactly for floyd? does he have connections to big enterprises or what exactly is he doing in floyds corner. I know ellerbe is floyd's personal ***** and that he is like an butler or right hand man, even so I realy don't know what is actual work for floyd is either?

-mgm sets the place to fight
-hbo shows the fight on ppv tv
-golden boy promo promotes the fight
-floyd talks the trash to hype the fight

so what does haymon & ellerbe do exactly:huh:-(?

    found this

floyd is so cheap... I am 99.9 % sure he doesnt put all the money out for 1 fight to promote it. golden boy & haymon play a big role and are part of the financiel backing.

haymon may even be the evil force behind and floyd his puppet. he says to lil floyd that he needs 100 % of the pac-may-ppv money, just that he can't more cash out of it, I realy believe this. floyd just stuttering all over the place and than saying YES :D

It kind of hard to explain its not really a guarantee. But near the time of the fight Floyd will write himself a check probably out of the money already earned from the fight. You have to remember by fight night they have already got the money from the casino and ticket sales and sponsorship's .

and floyd can't do it by himself, because there is endless paperwork to do and floyd can't afford an lawyer and clerk to do that?

in my eyes most jobs are for the birds. one of them is a promoter or manager.

they get money for things a boxer can do on his own when he is not to stupid.

phonecall 1 to the opponent, you fight me, a big super star you get 20 %, what you think, opponent says 40 %, you say 30 %, we have a deal

phonecall 2 too mgm, is 5 mai an okay date for you, answer okay.

phonecall 3 is hbo interested in a 24/7 for this fight, answer is yes

you make some tweets and facebook videos talking trash and it's on

    that simple :deal

let me just tell you what i believe is floyd's model. they use a backer and gbp is and has been floyds backer. haymon negotiates for floyd for a guarantee just like every other manager does to a promoter. gbp gives a guarantee to floyd and will likely ask/get a fee of 10-20% of the guaranteed purse. gbp may also get a share of the profit after the event has passed certain ppv buy or a profit amount. floyd pays haymon for a percentage of the money haymon gets from gbp.

this model was used by leonard with finkel as his manager and they hired promoter on a fight by fight basis.

finkel also tried to convince manny to use this model but pac choosed to just cut the manager out and just pay the promoter more.

for me it sounds like there is not so much difference between the 2 models.
leonard & mayweather made good money, but it isn't like tyson (under don king) and pacquiao (top rank) didn't make quillions of dollars.

you can make a call that tyson was ripped of by don and lost all his millions. nevertheless you don't have to forget the fact that tyson was a very stupid person, who left nothing out mega mansions, finest wips and girls, party etc. and that also floyd manages himself and is his own boss, he also lost a lot of money and had tax problems, so it wasn't like it was all paradise for him neither.

working without promotional contract would only work good with a select few who are in demand... otherwise the up and comer needs promoter. it will get him better fights and faster shot for a title.
